Had a reader send this to me, as they believe this is where Bethany Soye got her inspiration for HB 1239, her librarian lock-up bill that proposes to send librarians, teachers, and museum workers to jail because someone doesn’t like a book that has been checked out:
Remember the vote is this afternoon on this ridiculousness – call your legislators .
It’s so tempting to run against her in the primary.
Do it. You’ll probably lose, but it’s your right to run.
We have the best patients in the world….because of jail.
So many good lines in that clip.
My first job in grade school is where my father assigned me to clean the two bathrooms at our family business on Main Street that was in our family for generations. The men’s bathroom had Playboy Magazines since the business had a subscription. Those bathrooms were spotless when I got done and I’d read the articles some being very well written. So sick of this BS with these Religious fanatics that have taken over our government. A number of them sure don’t act very Christian either.
Bigot
Representatives Soye (prime), Aylward, Baxter, Hughes, Ismay, Jordan, Kayser, Manhart, May, Novstrup, Rice, Sjaarda, and Walburg and Senators Perry and Voita signed onto this bill so far.
Manhart voted yes out of committee
Whack jobs, one and all.
It is surprising just how either unintelligent or wacko he is or maybe both. He votes for the craziest fringe bills. He is part of the Libertarian Dennert group that are way out there.
Highly doubt this J6er QAnon opportunist will be re-elected.
Pretty amazing to see Will Mortenson and Van Diepen, an actual former law enforcement guy, claim in all seriousness that “Librarians will go to Jail” on the floor today. Channeling their inner AOC! It was surreal, You guys don’t even pretend to be conservative anymore. Thank for that.
Glad religious tyrants aren’t pretending to believe in small government anymore either. Lying in the “name of God” and “think of the children”. A combo as old as time for insecure, petty, and cruel people to feel better by dominating others.
Lawyers pointing out what the law allows: bad, stupid
Some rando on the internet giving a “trust me, bro, will never happen” to a thing the law, as written, clearly allows for: good, smart.
Cool story, bro.
If this bill passes the senate and is signed into law expect Librarians to quit and we end up with high turnover and vacant positions. They will find better positions and more support out of state adding to the state brain drain.
If this passes through the senate, I smell Rhoden’s first veto forthcoming.
We can hope.
