From KELOland news, it appears that Jamie Smith is conceding his loss, and is not going to challenge the new Mayor, Christine Erickson’s win in the runoff:
Sioux Falls candidate for mayor Jamie Smith made an announcement Tuesday he’s conceding from the Sioux Falls Mayoral race.
“I’m here today to announce that I will not challenge the results in court and I will concede the race for Sioux Falls Mayor,” Smith said.
Class act Jamie. No suprise there
If he would have won, he wouldn’t have said a word about election integrity.

Good for Jamie. I didn’t vote for him, but I know he cares about the city and the state. I’m glad he saw that prolonging this wouldn’t be good for anyone.
Pretty sad results. We really need to update election laws to require 1% win rate to account for the human errors. I think if he had challenged it, it may have gone in his favor. When they choose not to count votes because of a stamp or not to count votes because mail was late or run out of ballots and turn even one voter away, then we have to as an electorate demand that a candidate win by more than the margin of human error we just witnessed.
4 votes is not an honorable nor should it be a tolerable way to win.
Sounds like sour grapes to me.
“Sour grapes” is when people pretend they don’t want things they can’t have. Lately that phrase seems to be misused even more than “begs the question.”
Someone should conversate about this. Me? I could care less. It’s just people biting off their noses to spiderface.
What are we supposed to do, keep voting until the margin of error is exceeded?
I think we need to find a process that reduces the human errors too, also a process that makes it easier to vote. The whole stamped ballots concept, then having mail in ballots arrive only by a certain date (I guess we depend on the post office that the fed is trying to shut down?), and then waiting in line at the county building, could all be updated. I know the boomers think this sounds fine, but the rest of us are continuing to progress into the current century. Facial recognition software scans us upon entering the country, we use two factor authentication to file taxes online, when we fly commercial aviation we no longer have customer service humans, just AI chat bots. I think we can come up with a more efficient and effective way to vote that doesn’t throw out hundreds of ballots based on a very aging “boomer” rule set.
