January FEC Reports: South Dakota Republican Party raises $7.01 in December. $433 spent.

December 2025 wasn’t looking much like Christmas for the SDGOP. Or maybe it was.  Because as opposed to raising nothing, they managed to raise $7.01 in unitemized contributions.

SDGOP January 2026 FEC Report by Pat Powers

If you’re selling matches in the snow, I suppose $7 might look like a lot.  If you’re a former Obama supporter and 32-year Democrat like Jim Eschenbaum in charge of the State’s largest political party, you probably need to be replaced.

$7.01 raised. $4.53 in interest, and they again raided the State account. This time for $1497.63.  This is pretty in line with how the rest of their year has gone (I made a chart), where they raise nothing, and transfer money from the other account.

They spent $433 and have $35,953.37 left in the federal account at the end of 2025.

Election year 2026 doesn’t look to be starting off very good for the SDGOP.  (Maybe Eschenbaum should stay out of playing favorites in the primary, pay attention to the job he took on, and and start raising money?)

  1. These clowns somehow took control of the party. Republicans run every branch of government, yet they managed to raise seven dollars this fiscal cycle — not seven thousand, not seven hundred… seven.

This is what bad leadership looks like. It’s rampant in our county parties and far too common among our legislators. If we want to win, govern, and be taken seriously again, we need competent Republicans who actually know how to lead — not amateurs playing politics.

  2. The gatecrashers who seized control were those who never provided the support. It’s like telling the Henny Penny story where nobody helps her make the bread – but a version where they just eat Henny Penny at the start of the story.

  3. Why raise $$ ? GOP has SD locked up. If Demos get frisky just gerrymander the district they are in

  4. Attn:
I know exactly what the issue is with the
    SDGOP.

LOOK IN THE MIRROR YOU DOPES.

    Stop bitching.
    It’s you.
    It’s you.
    It’s you.

    Any questions?

  5. This pathetic fundraising to this point looks much more like a plan than apathy or stupidity.
I’m guessing they are holding donors back until after the convention. Not saying there are a lot of donors but this definitely looks like there is some devious plan afoot.
They likely want a failed convention so they can install their crony-kooks on the ballot for constitutional offices.
    It’s a coup d’teta

  6. Fundraising? Why would they do that. They are too busy bashing a sitting memeber of congress (from their party), twice in a 24 hour period, to raise money. Jim as an absolute joke and unless the majority leader says and does something, this crap will continue to happen.

    1. Oh yeah, Dem is the fraud and trans party, sure. That’s all that’s left since the GOP cornered the market on billionaire tax cuts, insurrection, warmongering and pedophilia protection.

  7. I’d be genuinely curious what has been raised in the state account, because that gives a much clearer picture of the broader plan.
    especially heading into convention.
At some point this becomes more than a bad month on an FEC report. What does this say about the state partys home to the Majority Leader John thune and the Secretary of Homeland Security… if we can’t even get our organizational house in order?

If we’re at a place where money is tight enough that attending convention becomes a concern, that should be a red flag. I can’t imagine that’s a position John Thune wants his home state party in heading into the midterms.

It’s hard to sell a vision nationally when your own state operation looks like the current party leadership ran into in the ground….

    1. There is a movement afoot to change the bylaws to prohibit any government office-holder from also serving as an officer in the party.
The current leadership is so opposed to incumbent office-holders they want to ban them from the central committee, a move that will make the party even less relevant than it already is..

  8. The assumption is that when a democrat becomes a republican, the values also change. I think not.

Ask yourself how it is that the Republican Party is at war with itself? Could it be all these “new” Republicans and their liberal attitudes and activities are the real “RINOs” in the crowd?

Think about it…they turned the state convention upside down, infused constant theories of election fraud, accusations of misconduct and hen picked legislators and governor candidates to continue their assault on the original, genuine and functional Republican Party.

This collection of dildos (facsimiles of the real thing) are what is causing this divide. The democrats don’t need to work very hard because circus performers are doing it for them, all all levels.

I bet the DNC just sits back, watching the talking heads, and smiles from ear to ear. Their progressive party of years past now has new initials.

Their real RINOs are these converts and the sheep they talk about incessantly are their followers.

If the traditional Republicans don’t come forward, the inmates will be running the prison.
