Legislator Mark Lapka refuses DUI citation; I’m sure that will go well.

From KELOland news, apparently, someone didn’t want to sign their ticket for FWI.. farming while intoxicated:

Republican state Sen. Mark Lapka refused to sign a complaint issued to him on Oct. 9 in McPherson County, a court document filed said.

The space where Lapka or the defendant is to sign was filled with the word “Refused.”

McPherson County Attorney Austin Hoffman said the signature portion is a way for a defendant to state they agree to attend the court appearance. The DUI charge requires a court appearance, Hoffman said.

Read the story here.

I’m sure this will be an interesting explanation.

    1. Perhaps he saw TV footage of those tractor-mounted saws ripping down trees, and had a case of drunkee-see-drunkee-do.

  1. It must have been…..Bees!!! Dear God they were everywhere! His flesh was literally boiling! For the love of all that is holy, why didn’t somebody help him!?

  2. I am reasonably sure the bond papers issued after what is generally a custodial arrest, and which constitute an order of the court will take care of that detail.

Allegedly this DUI sort of stuff already implies a person may not necessarily be exercising the most prudent judgment. Allegedly, of course.

  3. Refuse to sign? 🤔 sounds like a cause for reasonable doubt.
This guy has experience with this sort of thing.

  4. What seems to be the problem folks? Mark Lapka was working on diversification of harvesting! A new type of cotton, Stop signs, lights and other products for future markets. The combine may have needed modifications but give it time! Inoocent until proven guilty!

  5. Signing the citation is not an admission of guilt. It is a promise to appear. This guy must be a complete idiot.

  6. The northern part of the state has been sandbagged with some real doozies for legislators thanks to the SDGOP and their districting. Some moved back to where they legally resided in disgrace, others who’s districts had reached rock bottom were soundly rejected in the primary. A few other nutcases chose to not run for re-election to save them from an embarrassing defeat at the ballot box, left the district and ran for the hills. We are still stuck with a few of them.
