From Facebook, and I’m sure coming to an unwanted text message near you, apparently Taffy Howard is endorsing Toby Doeden for Governor:
Given Taffy’s track record, I’m not so sure Mr. Scowly Face should be clucking about that one.
There are rumors that Howard could be Doeden’s running mate. Which will have us watching next years’ session closely, as the last time Taffy Howard ran for Statewide office in 2022, out of 377 recorded roll call votes on the House floor she skipped 53 votes, or 14% of them. (seriously, I counted). She also skipped the vote to send impeachment to the Senate for trial on the impeachment for Jason Ravnsborg.
Who’s going to be the next endorsement? Phil Jensen?

Consider that she introduced Toby on Wednesday night. This endorsement is not surprising.
Other people that spoke prior to Toby included Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman, Minnehaha County Commissioner Cole Heisey, and Representatives Logan Manhart & John Carley.
Other attendees included Senator Carl Perry, Representatives Scott Moore & Brandei Schaefbauer just to name a few.

Taffy would serve him well but I dont see her being G2. She wouldn’t have the trust of 13k state employees. She’d be a good veterans affairs secretary.
Taffy might serve him well but nobody else. Don’t forget, in 2020 she lead the successful effort to defeat the SDGOP’s resolution to honor “Juneteenth,” the commemoration of Lincoln’s Emancipation Declaration. No way was she going to let the SDGOP celebrate the Republican Party’s origins in the Abolitionist Movement.
She and the “Black Nazi” probably have lots in common.

This morning at the Conservatives with Common Sense breakfasting it was pointed out to me that young Ms. Taffy got 41% in a race for Congress and if Mr. Dusty launches right for the Governor’s office, why couldn’t Ms. Taffy just waltz her flowered skirt right into that slot? If you once pulled 41% in a statewide GOP primary, it seems silly to tie your hair to the beard of a scowling buffoon who will get 4%. It will end her political career forever.
How? Yes, he won’t win and it’s a bit nuts, but she has always behaved this way. Why would this, of all things, end her career?
grudznick thinks Ms. Taffy has been on an upswing of less insanerism since she joined the Senate side of the legislatures. This is clearly a lurch back towards the insanest of them all. Don’t do it, Ms. Taffy! You can keep on with your swing into being a productive establishment model…you can be the Lynne Hix of Box Elder once again.
