More candidates popping up out there. But isn’t there one missing?

Now that I’m done giggling over someone’s plagiarism causing them to inadvertently promote dakotawarcollege.com, the word is out there that a few more people have petitions out to run for the state legislature.

State Representative Dan Kaiser is said to have his petitions out in the Aberdeen community for another run at the State House.  And the word out west is that Tim Goodwin of rural Hill City may be a candidate for the State House in District 30 giving us a 4-way primary instead of a three-way.

But isn’t there one missing?  Weren’t we promised a candidate?

I distinctly recall South Dakota Democrat Chair Ann Tornberg promising that Democrats would have a candidate for US Senate.  They went all last year – when a legitimate candidate would have been running – and ended 2015 without a candidate to their name.

Now we’re starting to creep through January, when desperation should be kicking in, and they still don’t have one.

And the campaign season continues to roll on…..

  1. Jeff Barth should announce he is running against Thune. Then maybe Tornberg or Varilek will get in that race just to keep him from being the nominee.

If you want a candidate make sure Jeff Barth runs first then there will be someone who doesn’t want him that is compelled to run.

    Demi eat their own.

  2. Before my kids knew I didn’t know enough about basketball, I was their coach. Anyway, when one was in the 6th grade before a game with a team that was really good, my daughter asks “Why are we even playing? We will get trounced.”

I told her all the bromides like “you’ll get better playing them, who knows you might win, they will be your teammates when you get to Jr. High, its about having fun, blah, blah, blah.” Being a good daughter, if she thought it was bunk, she didn’t express herself and played her heart out. On the way home after getting trounced, her only comment was “I still don’t know why we play them and this isn’t any fun.”

My point: Potential Democratic candidates don’t have a Dad making them run so they don’t.

  3. Senatorial re-election rates are north of 80%. Why waste the money when Rounds and Jackley will be softer targets.
    – It makes it hard to make a buck as a political consultant, huh? lol

  4. Tim Goodwin announced today at Wingnuts that he is running against tax and spend Bruce Rampleberg.
