A new poll is out talking about where the candidates are in terms of support for the Republican primary. No big surprises:
Mason-Dixon SD GOP primary:
- Dusty, 28%
- Rhoden, 27%
- Toby, 15%
- Hansen, 10%

They only polled registered Republicans, which makes sense. But I wonder what a poll of all SD voters might show. I suspect Doeden and Hansen would not do so well.
Why would they poll all voters? In a Republican primary, only Republicans vote.
Too much knowledge is a dangerous thing. Ok.
Im changing my affiliation for one day just so I can vote against Toby Doeden.
So when will Dodo and Hansen realize they can’t win and throw their minions behind Rhoden?
Dusty is cooked. Almost 2:1 can’t stand him. You think the election-deciding 25% is gonna vote for the swamp? Rhoden is our next Governor and it won’t be close.
Have you thought about joining SNL as a cast member because this is funny. The fact of the matter is this race hasn’t even started, buckle up!
I apologize for telling the truth. I know it affects everybody differently, and I promise to be more sensitive when wielding the truth in the future. 🙂
Agreed. A poll like this for Rounds a few years ago would put him at 56 percent, and have everyone else splitting up 40 percent. This looks more like an open race so far.
The Doe-nut’s on FB lauding Tucker Kraft with a long game clip. He’ about to get a lesson in how the NFL feels about pirating its content.
Things are going perfectly for Hansen. He is building name recognition in a mostly-positive way. Everyone knows your first statewide race is a name-building race. When he drops out he will have a bright future in politics if he throws his support behind Rhoden. Thats their only hope if they don’t want Dusty for Governor. Doeden is going to be left out in the cold without a large chunk of change either way. No amount of money will ever make Doeden or Hansen Governor. If Dusty wins the primary, those two will be to blame, neither of them have any claim to this race whatsoever in my eyes or the eyes of the voters.
Keep in mind Rhoden hasn’t even announced yet. I believe within a month of him campaigning he will shoot upwards of 30% and continue climbing. He has an absurd amount of support for someone so humble and quiet, and family in every corner of the state. Its hard not to think, as rough around the edges as he is, he is the perfect Governor for a state like ours.
Caught an ad for Doeden the other night on YouTube leading into a Stephen Colbert monologue. Smart targeting of ad dollars or brilliant satire from the Colbert crew? This registered Republican laughed, but Rhoden likely to get my primary vote.
So Dusty was 28% in the last poll a few months ago. Since then he’s announced his campaign, spend money on ads and mailings, had all his staff at parades, put out his endorsements and policy ideas. He’s been around the state a lot because the House has been off so much. And he is still at 28%. He can’t be happy about that.
If Hansen drops out I suspect his supporters will go to Doeden.
