SDGOP Continues to push hard for it’s candidates; Urges people to support Senator Helene Duhamel
From Facebook:
Remember when things made sense?
This was the ad that put John Thune over the top. Where he’s been ever since!
Pn Amendment E, the bill proposed to fix the language in the state constitution regarding recognizing that women are elected to office too (Which they’ve been truing to fix since 1889 or so).. this popped up on facebook a few days back, where State Representative Brandei Schaefbauer was declaring her terror over the Constitution being gender neutralized!:
Heavens to Betsy! We’d better start clutching those pearls! Brandei Schefbauer is all of a sudden in fear over about gender neutralizing our State Constitution – as if it’s going to go in the same bathroom as her! (I imagine her yelling “Get out of here Constitution! I’m trying to powder my nose!”)
I’m not sure where she suddenly developed her Constitutional gender-phobia from, since it wasn’t a problem when she was one of the votes in favor of it back in 2023:
How did Brandei’s “Yes” vote get through? She must have been confused by everyone voting yes before her. Keep in mind when you go to the voting booth tomorrow – Brandei Schaefbauer thinks you should vote No because Women are being recognized as able to hold office all over “we the country.” And we’d better stop that!
*sigh*
Is the election over yet? I just want to stop the stupid, even for just a moment.
It would not sound like everyone believes Minnehaha County Leah Anderson will do the job that she’s supposed to as the US Attorney has announced that the Department of Justice will be monitoring how elections are being conducted in Minnehaha County tomorrow night:
The press release does not say why the four counties were chosen for monitoring. There is a history of voting rights litigation in tribal areas, some of which helped redefine state legislative districts that a federal judge ruled had diluted the representation of Native Americans.
and..
In the June primary, 132 ballots from one Minnehaha County precinct were successfully challenged – at least initially – by an activist named Jessica Pollema, who claimed the ballots were fraudulent because the voters listed P.O. boxes for their address. The state Supreme Court later sided with the Minnehaha County state’s attorney and the Secretary of State’s Office, denying a request to invalidate the votes.
When are the voters of that county going to wisen up and get her out of there?
It might not be anything Monae did, but when you hold the throne, you’re also held responsible.
A Prayer for Our Nation
By: Gov. Kristi Noem
November 1, 2024
For those of you who read my weekly columns, you know that they can take on many forms. They’re often focused on updating you on changing policies or issues that I am focused on. Sometimes they celebrate major events in our state, holidays, or the achievement of something that we’ve been working on for a while.
This week, I want to do something just a bit just a bit different. I want to say a prayer for our state and our nation. If you’ll join me…
Dear God, we come to You in prayer. We thank You for the blessings that You have showered on the state of South Dakota and the United States of America. You have blessed us with greater Freedom and prosperity than any nation has ever known. You have made us one nation, under You, indivisible, built on the principles of liberty and justice for all. And You have helped make South Dakota a shining beacon of Freedom within that nation.
You helped form us as the United States, but this nation has not seemed as united in recent days, weeks, and months. We ask You to bring us together in the values and principles that You have used to make America special: that all men and women are created equal by You; that You endow us with rights including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that You give us free will to make our own decisions; that with that free will comes the personal responsibility to make the right choices for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
Lord, we ask You to strengthen families across our state and nation. Where there is pain, we ask You to bring healing and comfort. Where there are families struggling to make ends meet, we ask You to help them feed their families and keep a roof over their heads – and we ask that You help bring some economic relief to our people. Where there is conflict, whether within families or communities, we ask You to bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Where there is war around the globe, we ask You to bring that same peace – and we ask You to help America be the example that can help achieve that peace.
Lord, there is an election just a few days away that will shape our nation for the next several years and far beyond. We ask that Your guiding hand be present in this election and that You bless us with results that will set our state and nation up for success in the years and generations to come.
This great American Republic that You have blessed us with is possible because our people are actively involved in keeping it. Help us to maintain that focus so that we can hand Freedom down to our kids and grandkids.
Thank You again for the blessings you have given us – help us always to thank You and not to take them for-granted.
In Your name we pray – Amen.

From Facebook, the Yes on 29 people are leaning into the fact that their position on the legalization of recreational marijuana is supported by President Trump with a new commercial that’s starting to air:
The SD GOP is in Trouble
Joe Kirby, Chairman of South Dakota Open Primaries announced, “Many Republican party loyalists are planning to vote No on Amendment H in the mistaken belief that they can go back to business as usual in South Dakota politics. They couldn’t be more mistaken. The SD GOP has undergone a significant change in the last few years that many Republicans have not noticed.”
“It began with the uprising at the 2022 Republican party convention in Watertown when the incumbent Secretary of State was not renominated. Then, 48% of the convention voted to not support Thune, Dusty, and Noem in the fall election. It continued in the June 2024 primary when a dozen incumbents were primaried. The party is engaged in an internal civil war.”
“Because of the uncertainty and infighting, fundraising for the Republican party and candidates has dried up. Many candidates received no or only minimal support from the party.”
Kirby continued, “Mainstream GOP traditions and history are under attack from a fringe group of ‘conservatives’ who aren’t really conservative at all. The only solution on the table is Amendment H. If it passes, the party will find itself recommitted to traditional South Dakota values, and answerable to the majority of our conservative populace.”
Republican SD Senator Michael Rohl said, “If Amendment H doesn’t pass, the future of our party and state looks murky. It could be a political train wreck. The decision is clear to me: A Yes vote means I need to listen to my district, a No vote means I should listen to party bosses.”
Republican SD Senate Leader Lee Schoenbeck said, “The Republican party we have built over the last fifty years is being taken over by fringe people that Bill Janklow, Jim Abdnor and George Mickelson wouldn’t recognize. Republican leaders were practical conservatives we could be proud of. The new fringe that’s taken over the South Dakota GOP are not conservatives, they are crazy. If Amendment H fails, we lose our party to extremists.”
Kirby added, “Amendment H is on the November 5th ballot. All candidates for an office would be listed on a single ballot. All legal voters would get that ballot. The top two vote getters would move on to the general election. Most importantly, all voters would get to vote. Democracy works best when all voters get to vote. Vote YES on H!”
