Pick a party – any party! Brian Bengs on CNN trying to convince people he’s now a Republican?

Seriously. You can’t make this stuff up.  Because the more you read, the more you wonder “Who the heck is Brian Bengs?”

We’re all baffled why Brian Bengs signed up for another butt-kicking in the U.S. Senate race. The soon-to-be two-time loser isn’t known among South Dakota voters and will essentially only get anti-establishment votes and anti-conservative votes.

Clearly, Bengs is desperate for attention and trying to court all voters by saying whatever it takes.  Case in point: in the last four years, he’s claimed to be a Democrat, Independent, and in the last week, he even claimed to be a Republican. You can’t make this stuff up!

Democrat: Bengs ran against Thune in 2022 as a Democrat and lost big time. (70-26%)

Independent: This time around, he’s running as an independent bad mouthing Chuck Schumer and even John Thune.

And now, he’s claiming he’s a Republican!  On August 16, Bengs ACTUALLY made the claim to CNN’s Inside Politics that he’s a Republican:

“I’m billing myself as a Teddy Roosevelt Republican.  Old School Republican”

But what Bengs isn’t saying is that he’s really more of a Democratic Socialist of America. He’s not going to say that out loud in South Dakota, but when you look at his statements on issues and the names of members in Congress that he wants to work with, it’s pretty clear.

PLUS, it’s the far-left’s playbook in 2026: run the crazies as “Independents” in red states like South Dakota and Nebraska telling people they’re “moderate,” and run the crazies as DSA in the blue states.

So, consider this your friendly reminder that when you get into the voting booth this November, the party affiliation next to Bengs doesn’t mean a damn thing.

  1. He did pick a party. The Republican Party of Theodore Roosevelt. However, that party doesn’t exist anymore.

    1. The Democrats of Harry Truman’s day were better Republicans than Trump and the current GOP. They fought hardest for The Republic first of all.

  2. Wait a minute! Back up the truck! Didn’t the Rounds campaign and allies say this candidate Bengs was a non factor sorta like a pesky fly? Why are they directing so much time and fire against this challenger?

  3. The party affiliation not meaning anything is sort of the whole point. Repub’s should be worried, because the R next to Rounds’ name only means that he’s on the sidelines cheering on this administration as it twists the Supreme Court into trampling on the rule of law. Ol’ Rounds has stood by and clapped and nodded his approval as Trump enriches himself to the tune of $2B while in office.

      1. “But what Bengs isn’t saying is that he’s really more of a Democratic Socialist of America.”

        “Isn’t” does not mean is.

    1. Define what Americans hate? I mean I hate liberals, or people who can’t identify between what is a female or male.
I hate we didn’t Iran out in 1979.
I hate the wnba and all the drama.

      1. “I hate the WNBA and all the drama…”

Lol, that out of left field reference tells me that you need the WNBA drama to give you purpose.

  4. “And we need it, because this is no longer a safe seat. The only way to beat him (Bengs) is a campaign that stays on the air, stays on the ground, and never lets up.”

Can you guess who emailed that to me this morning? That’s right – Sen. Mike Rounds. So, either it’s true… or…

    1. The GOP elected people who tried to obligate the national guard to shoot down civilian aircraft. Glass houses and all that.

    2. Speaking of “loons”… today, he is threatening to rename Lake Ontario. He wants to call it “Lake America”. This has gone so far beyond stupid that even some of Trump’s biggest fans have been taking their giant signs down.

He turned the Dept. of Defense into the Dept. of War. Of course he did. His whole administration is one of war, agitation and mayhem. It’s what he does.

      Good luck in November.

      1. From 1789 to 1947 the DOD was referred to as the Department of War. President Trump merely restored the original name.
