You know, this doesn’t sounds like anything the nuns taught us at St. Joe’s in Pierre, as some of the fringe hard right celebrates the death of the pope claiming it will signal “the end of the corruption of the Catholic church over the 20th century.”
Who in their right mind thinks like this?
This seems to emphasize why people were Leary of JFK being the first Catholic president.
Isn’t government watch one Katie Hoffmans crazy crusades? So “right mind” doesn’t come into play. Also Odenbach? [redacted – please cite sources – pp]
Fair to request sources, but not fair to the source in this case. Could we just say his motivations for conversion have been questioned?
It is these hypocrites that are not only working to purge what used to be the SDGOP of what they judge as RINOS but the Roman Catholic Church of CINOS which is tragic for everyone.
Next step: kicking Republicans out of their own party.
“Who in their right mind thinks like this?”
Hmmm, couldn’t possibly be the enlightenment thinkers of MAGA could it?
Trash the pontiff, nominate selves as catholic leaders. Once again, they have no idea what they are talking about, nor do they seem to understand his position as Christ’s representative on earth. The arrogance of these people never ceases to amaze and anger me.
I do not believe those words are a “celebration of the Pope’s death”, but more of the end of his politics and lack of Biblical truth. I hope and pray the next Pope will work more for the souls of men and less for promoting “climate change”, open borders, support of sexual sin, etc. He was a Socialist. I hope and pray that the next elected Pope is not. I hope the next Pope will not be worse. I pray for a Pope to unite his church, bring them closer to Jesus, and stay true to the Bible. I hope for a non-political Pope. Pope Francis was just a human man who was called to lead the Catholic Church. He was not a God. May he rest in peace and in the arms of Jesus.
Celebrated Catholic priest Francis Pavone today called Francis’s term a “failed papacy”. Is Pavone a member of the extreme right?
“Celebrated”

Missing money and sex scandal.
Every accusation is a confession when it comes to the far right.
The same way projection is a cornerstone of the liberal democrats?
I see the day you made it to psych class was “projection” day lol
He’s a defrocked priest you imbecile. So yeah, he’s an extremist nutjob.
He was defrocked, you idiot.
“Celebrated?” He was defrocked. I guess he’s celebrated in the way Nixon is?
That’s like the crazies leaning into their attack harder by citing a letter from a priest who was excommunicated for being a nut. If you’re in for a penny, you’re in for a pound.
OH! Some of these same kooks also believe in jet contrails being chemtrails, and that 9/11 was a pre-planned by covert deep-state operatives.
These kooks are doubling down and talking about “the deep state” alongside the “deep church.”
A lesson on why good people need to be involved in the governance of their state. Because you don’t want to stay home and leave it to them.
The Pope talked out of both sides of his mouth on several issues and the criticism he had received for that is deserved.
The disrespect so soon after the Holy Father’s passing is saddening. His life and devotion to service to the end should be honored and celebrated. Compassion and empathy were among many of his strengths and gifts to others.
If they like the Pope: Christ’s representative on earth. Papal infallibility.
If they don’t like the Pope: communist. Not even a catholic.
I am so sick of these people.
100% agree is he annoyed by Christ or not? You can use that to shove things down others throats when he says something you like and then freak out when he says something you don’t.
In my eyes Pope Francis was the most Christ like we have seen in a while. We would be lucky to have another Jesuit Pope.
Talked out of both sides of his mouth? More like made the Church more universal. Allowed women to play a more active role but did not budget on women in priesthood. Said who am I to judge gay people while not budging on same sex marriage. It sounds to me like he was incredibly holy in treating all people with respect as they are God’s creations while not moving on Church tenants. Can clearly tell he was a Holy man by the way he treated everyone. I know that’s not fashionable in some circles but you can still treat people like humans even if you don’t agree with them.
The headline is misleading, and unnecessarily so.
Critiquing his papacy was the subject of the post, and the critiques were hardly “radical” or novel–anyone knowledgeable about the last 13 years would be aware of the same general themes of discontent with his papacy.
There was no “celebrating” anyone’s death.
Come on, man.
You mean the discontent from the Trad-Caths that still have trouble adjusting to Vatican II? Those stick in the muds? They fit the description of the Grand Inquisitor from the Brothers Karamazov and should be treated as such.
Speaking of the Party of Trump/Hard Right/QAnon was JD Vance the Angel of Death?
Mrs. Hoffman just did a great job of losing the support of any Catholic who may have been open to listening to her garbage. Including the man she’s been promoting for governor, Mr. Hansen. Just like the old study when scientists put a bunch of mice in the same space. Eventually, they start eating each other.
The far right started eating it’s own soon after the far left made it a trend. Even made it’s way to SD now.
Toby Doeden another critical of Pope Francis ended up being a bonus addition in the extreme right eat each other and all you can eat buffet. Toby Doeden got played in the end by Hansen. Thanks for playin Toby! We appreciate the support! Keep sending the money buddy!
By that, are you talking about something I heard where Hansen promoted getting rid of big money donations but then created a PAC for Doeden to contribute big money to? In excess of FEC limits?
Is Rep Hansen a Cradle Catholic or did he convert later in life? Is anyone aware? Raised in Catholic Church you could always tell the Mainline Protestant (Luthern, Episcopalian, etc.) from the Evangelical converts. Rep. Hansen comes across as having all the bravado of an Evangelical without having all the Catholic guilt.
What was Brandei Schaefbauer prior to her conversion to being Catholic?
Illiterate. Something’s never change…..
