Catherine Barranco Earns Endorsement from State Auditor Rich Sattgast

Today, South Dakota Auditor Rich Sattgast announced his endorsement of candidate Catherine Barranco to succeed him. Rich has served South Dakota with distinction for over two decades, the last eight years of which he served as State Auditor.
In his endorsement, Sattgast stated, “While I have known Catherine Barranco for many years, it was her entrance in the race for State Auditor that prompted many conversations pertaining to the requirements for this position. Catherine exhibited her dedication by meeting with the staff early on, and it was during this period of time, she demonstrated her knowledge of the intricacies and operations of the several departments and the attention they require. Combined with her education and her conservative principles, I extend my endorsement for her candidacy.”
“Competence and dedication to the Office’s mission are critical to the State Auditor position,” Barranco said. “If I am given the opportunity to serve, my family and I will relocate to Pierre. Avera’s brand new Helmsley Center offers excellent oncology care for David, Christopher and William are very excited to help the Govs win another state championship, and I will be on site to work with the fantastic Auditor’s team, focusing on the tasks at hand. We’ll continue the legacy Rich has begun, and we’ll add a DOGE division engineered to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and inefficiency. I am deeply honored to have support from the person who best understands the Auditor’s Office and what it takes to serve the people.”
“Taxpayer dollars belong to the taxpayers,” Barranco continued. “Let’s DOGE South Dakota!”

I have worked with Catherine for years with SDRW Cyberspace and Virtual Club Coalition. She consistently goes above and beyond in everything she does. I always want her on my team and she will do great things for South Dakota!
Is it OK to point out how strange and weird this is?
The only thing “strange and weird” is your ignorant comment.
why is tgis strange and weird?
Kids will help the govs win titles. Go govs! Hubby can get treatment in Pierre. Let’s DOGE state gov (how’d that work in the end in DC?). W E I R D.
Better wait. Pennington county is gonna need a new auditor in a couple years after they see how much Mulally is gonna mess up. The fk was Pennington county thinking!
DEI
That’s a stupid republican response.
I support Catherine, 100%!!!! No one has worked harder for the Republicans in SD and for devotion to her family!
I frankly don’t know why she didn’t want to run in the first place?
Funny that Pennington county already had someone like this, but they voted her out cause of Mulallys lies. That office is gonna be such a huge joke.
Catherine is a great candidate for the role of state auditor. She’s detail oriented and will bring the rigor needed to be successful in the role.
I’ve known Catherine for years, and one thing that’s always stood out is that she does the work whether anyone is watching or not. Long before she was a candidate, she was serving her community, supporting conservative causes, and helping others succeed. She has never been someone chasing a title; she’s someone willing to step up when there’s work to be done. Rich Sattgast’s endorsement carries significant weight because he understands exactly what this office requires. South Dakota taxpayers deserve someone with Catherine’s integrity, work ethic, and commitment to public service.
She needs an opponent however, I don’t like when someone walks into an office uncontested. It’s always better to have choices, I’ve heard a few good names being floated. I’d guess we will hear a name or two publicly pretty soon.
Usually if they go uncontested, that’s cause they have the experience. That’s what you want in an auditors office. Not someone who’s gonna lie and cheat their way in.
