According to SOS page all of SD is counted except Minnehaha county. 13 of 81 are counted with 52 of 81 partially counted. Wow, really doing a great job.
Why are you belittling people going the extra mile to work really hard to ensure election integrity?
The Auditor there signs her name to everything ..
So did the prior auditor, whom you trashed. Eat shit.
Apparently, South Dakota can’t count its registrations either .. or residences.
Is that why big banks like to make deposits here?
I will tell you that Brown County was done counting vote at around 4AM this morning.
The whole process statewide felt much slower than in years past.
With all of the MAGA pre-election talk of election fraud mysteriously out the window after a Trump victory, wouldn’t that be a signal to the election deniers (SOS and Minnehaha Co. Auditor) that they can stand down with all of their hand count, slow roll nonsense, and simply release the results.
evidently they don’t have any results yet, while the whole rest of the state has quickly and expertly done their jobs. that’s the crux of it, john dale’s admiration nonwithstanding.
Vote for the extreme, get the extreme.
To Leah Anderson – from a great Seinfeld episode: “And you want to by my latex (sec of state) salesman”. Geez
She should go to work at Vandalay Industries. She’d be better at importing and exporting than counting votes. And South Dakota would be better off with anyone over her as SOS.
It’s almost 3:00 pm on Wednesday and there are still only 16 of 81 precincts in Minnehaha County counted. According to the auditor, the process was slowed because voters didn’t mark their ballots well. Do we really believe that many voters in the state’s largest county don’t know how to vote correctly?
Bull$hit, don’t blame the voters for your incompetence Leah. (Although the rest of us should blame the voters of minnehaha for this debacle, since they voted for her!!!) Leah Anderson for dog catcher in 2026 NOT SOS
According to the conductor of this train of crazy, the great Jessica Pollema, it’s the voters who can’t fill in circles fault, absentee voters fault, the tabulators fault, the Total Vote systems fault, and everybody else’s fault. Certainly not the fault of the person in charge of running the election. Even though no other county in the state had any of those issues. From the Canvass Crews X account: “the elections have never been run as well as they are under the leadership of Leah Anderson.” This blatant gaslighting is a play straight out of Biden’s press secretaries playbook. I’m starting to think these people are actually far left Dems just trying to destroy us from the inside.
Well obviously it’s evidence of a conspiracy that Arch and Sue lost their races. Because the Minnehaha Republican Party did such a bang-up job getting them elected.
clarification: Arch and Sue lost in Minnehaha County; Lincoln County did their job, got them across the finish line and elected Betty Otten for County Commissioner as well.
Since he’s a member of the legislature, why doesn’t come up with a solution by reviewing current laws and proposing changes?
Every other county figured out. Just this one can’t get it done. Doesn’t sound like a legislative problem. Sounds like a personnel issue.
I was there processing absentee ballots for 12 hours. Many other people stayed a lot longer.
-There wasn’t enough room to accommodate more people. The courthouse is only so big.
-The people that process absentee ballots do it once every 2-4 years.
-They can’t start being processed until the day of the election.
-It’s a very meticulous process and it’s precinct by precinct:
-Signatures need to be validated
-Envelopes need to be counted
-Names on the envelopes need to be verified with the voter roll
-Each name is written down by hand in a voter roll and assigned a number
-The official roll is then assigned the number by the voter from the written log
-Then the envelopes get unsealed by a machine
-Ballots are removed and flattened. Some ballots are beat up. Sometimes the envelope is empty.
-Ballots are then stamped with the precinct stamp.
-Ballots are then counted to make sure the number matches the number of envelopes received.
-Overseas ballots is a process all on it’s own.
-Humans do not follow instructions on how to vote. It’s not that hard. Look at the picture and read the instructions or ask questions.
-Minnehaha county is the largest county in the state and we’re growing daily. We have growing pains. Florida has a lot more money to purchase equipment to process and tabulate faster.
I would highly recommend to Mr. Venhuizen and the rest of the legislature to learn how the process works across the state and use that to propose changes and provide funds to each county to speed up the process, should they choose to make changes.
I would love to see tabulator machines at every precinct in Sioux Falls. Across the border in iowa, when someone votes in person either on election day or at the courthouse prior, the ballot is put into the machine by the voter and tabulated.
Working those 12 hours, it’s impossible to commit voter fraud unless every single person there was on the same page and it was closed off to the public. It’s transparent process. Participate in it. It’s hard work, factory work. Most people there are retired. As we age we our mobility changes and things don’t work the way they used to. I’m 37 and I’m still tired from Tuesday.
If any member of the legislator reads this, I’d be happy to talk more with them about the process and bounce around some ideas on how I think it can be made better.
“They can’t start being processed until the day of the election.”
I’m interested to learn more about this particular situation.
Pretty sure it’s state law they can’t be processed until election day.
Processing includes: verifying signatures, counting envelopes, opening the envelopes, removing the ballots, stamping the ballots, flattening the ballots, counting the ballots, verifying the voter rolls. The only thing electronic about it is: opening the envelopes and tabulation.
