SDDP Roasts Senator California Carley in video. Including the fact he’s a California transplant.

California Carley took some more roasting today for skipping out of session, and generally not having a clue about South Dakota. Today, South Dakota Democrats pointed out how he doesn’t show up for work in the legislature, doesn’t have a clue about South Dakota, and is generally the utterly worst State Senator since Julie Frye Mueller:

  1. Rep Soye’s situation may be a little bit different and I suggest we give her a bit more grace than Sen Carley, regarding absences this past session. I don’t know for sure why she missed over half of the votes/legislative days this year, but let’s assume she had a family situation change that came about after she made the commitment to District 9 voters to represent them and that said family situation change has now prevented her from doing her job.
One, that’s a little different than skipping town just to throw a middle finger at the governing process and the institution known as the South Dakota state government, as Sen Carley clearly did. Without a doubt, his double-talk and smirky expression confirm what he did.
However, my second point for Rep Soye would be this: if you clearly couldn’t do the job this past session, don’t expect your constituents to trust you to do the job for the next two years. Things happen in life, we get it. But, don’t sign back up to ask for a job you just got done not doing. Period. Time to move on.

    1. I absolutely agreed. I’m sympathetic if something comes up and you can’t do your job. But if you aren’t able to do your job, then you have no business asking to be rehired.

    2. Representation is the core of the job, and district 9 didn’t half a voice half the session. As constituents, we deserve an explanation or some transparency. I realize things happen, but it’s time to elect someone else.

    3. If she has a valid reason for her numerous absences (even losing her committee assignment) I’m interested to hear it. But the total radio silence and lack of transparency to the voters of district 9 is a non starter for me.

    4. Even Carley came up with the embarrassingly lame excuse of an eye appointment. Arch Beal — we know why he missed – a stroke (and I digress here — but he also should have stepped down) and Jeff Bathke — he was serving his country in a war zone. But with Soye – radio silence. Absolutely no reason given for missing most of the session and not doing her job. Soye is arrogant and dismissive of her responsibilities to the office she asked for. That is inexcusable — but exactly the kind of crap we see from the holier than thee crowd.

  2. Carley is a result of good people not paying attention to the surroundings. Now the legislature is full of these types. When it was time for the rubber to meet the road… there was an unexpected eye exam? Give us a break.

    1. For sure! Not only did this stunt show us he plays games with the voters’ future, but his “story” shows that’s he’s a liar, too.

      1. Senator Carley a liar? No way! He was the Prime Sponsor to mandate the 10 Commandments be placed on the walls of all public schools in all South Dakota.

  3. Wow with campaign materials like that from SDDP, the prospects for Republicans look better and better. That was a snorefest.

      1. I’m sorry I insulted the video you made. I know you put blood, sweat and other body fluids in, to make it the goodest you could.

    1. Yeah, with all its facts and evidence. They shoulda had a rose ceremony and had people jousting, mirite?

  4. This young fellow, Mr. Muckey, seems to have a really good handle on Mr. Carley, who is from California, but grudznick missed where he tied this all into why the District numbered 29 needs to vote for Mr. Meirose, who may well be as much of an overgodder as Mr. Carley, who is from California. I guess the point is that Mr. Meirose will attend the sessions and do his duties and not hide out in Sen. Karr’s apartments all day.

    1. Mr. Meirose is very honest and knowledgeable candidate, something Carley has proven not to be

  5. If nothing else, the SDDP is showing how a state party is supposed to be operated: raise money, support your side, and draw attention to negatives from the opposition. They might get lucky and crack double digits in the house if they keep going like this.

    1. Much is the result, probably, of Mr. Ahlers’ swell coiffure. It won’t be long before young Mr. Muckey is really running the show.

grudznick supposes it doesn’t hurt the SDDP that they are competing against a paper shadow of the SDGOP. It’s easy to score a few touchdowns now and then when the entire other team is composed of ghost runners.

  6. See, the Dems can get somethings correct. Now get them to go after Soye, Jordan, and Garcia.

  7. Soye missed nearly all votes this session. I challenge you to go back and look. She was there for really “one” key vote. As John Hansen puts it, “his” property tax bill. Hansen must have needed her vote to pass. She had time to gather signatures to run, turn her petition in, but not so up while getting paid for the job.
