SDGOP Chair Eschenbaum peddling Frye-Mueller ballot measure

This is hot off the press this evening:

Why on earth is the 32-year Democrat masquerading as the South Dakota Republican Party chairman pushing the Julie Frye-Awful promoted super sales tax? Which would literally be the biggest increase in taxes in South Dakota history?

This isn’t a measure that has been through any process except submitting it to LRC for comments. No Attorney General‘s opinion, no approval for circulation. God knows there’s no fiscal note.

They are miles off the mark before being able to think about putting one signature on it. Yet, this is somehow a pressing matter for the GOP? God forbid they focus on something related to candidates, aside from throwing stones at them.

The promoters have already proven that they can’t be trusted to give advice on much of anything. So, might be best for actual Republicans to stay out of it. Completely.

  1. I won’t name names, but even very right-wing legislators know this plan isn’t workable. Among its many problems, it doesn’t raise close to enough money to replace property taxes.

Mr. Eschenbaum, in his role as chair, really shouldn’t be getting involved in issue advocacy like this, but he REALLY shouldn’t for such a badly thought out proposal.

  2. Gee thanks Pat! I was hoping to have a relaxing evening. Any time JFM’s name is brought up in any context it is always pure lunacy. This is by far the most oppressive tax, targeting the low income folks the most. Even Taffy says this is a nonstarter. What’s it going to take to make these people stop wasting everyone’s time and work on something that actually is productive.

  3. The SDGOP has absolutely no business getting involved in this. Eschenbaum should resign as chair and run for legislature if he insists on doing their job instead of his.

  4. Does everything Jimmy touches turn embarrassing? Because it’s starting to feel that way. Also does the state party have to allot him a clothing budget to get him in anything better than dirty jeans and a wrinkled shirt? His wife must also be embarrassing…

  5. Ms. Frye-Mueller is nearly as pretty as her sister, but she is far insaner. She is dim-witted and only about keeping her husband, Mr. Mueller, in the news even though he won’t have a Freedom Fighter Fight with grudznick. Mr. Mueller, what say you?

  6. Let’s not forget Eschenbama, the supposed farmer, makes his living off land rent. Of course he would support such a stupid idea.

  7. I am still waiting for ground to break near Minnekota Jct on the Somali Refugee camp that JFM told me, 10 years ago, our Gubmint was secretly building behind our backs. 10 years later, no still no Somalis between Edgemont and Hot Springs…

  8. Political strategist James Carville has said that the job of a party is to help its candidates win elections.

Even James Carville gets it. Why can’t this guy (I refuse ti use his name) get it? HELP CANDIDATES NOT ISSUES. Pretty basic stuff.

  9. Is this proposed constitutional amendment for the ballot in 2026? Good luck getting enough signatures to make the ballot. Hope they have deep pockets. They’re already MONTHS behind.

  10. So, Ted Tunner is the single largest land owner in the state. I’m sure he would love no property tax. He would likely funnel tons of out of state money in to support such a measure.
    These people are STUPID!!
