SDGOP raises $7.66 in October, spends $10.7k

Readers, I’m on a long-planned weekend getaway and I won’t be able to post the full report until I’m back at the hotel room and have access to my iPad.

But the SDGOP just posted a bombshell FEC report that continues to highlight the (former 32-year Democrat) chairman’s poor performance coupled with an ever increasing downward acceleration.

$7.66? How does one justify continuing to have the title of chairman, yet raising that little amount of money month after month?

Unless as opposed to utter and gross incompetence the goal is to break the back of the Republican Party as we approach the most consequential elections in about a decade.

Something to think about.

Update – here’s the full report:

  1. Eschenbaum wanted to be somebody. As I recall, every past party chairman, when in receipt of a bill somebody needed to pay, tried to find somebody to pay it, and if they couldn’t, they found out they had become somebody themselves..
That’s how it’s always been done.

  2. and the agenda for the winter meeting is to amend the bylaws to allow the removal of an officer, and not to think about how they will pay for a convention in Rapid City? Priorities!

  3. It’s time for the state convention to be done. We are one of only five states that doesn’t have a primary for all statewide elections. At best, less than 0.1% of our states population chooses who will hold our constitutional offices. You wanna talk about voter suppression, this is it. Very, very few people in our state even know this process exists.

      1. yes. Let’s make it happen. Head to the primary. Tired of these idiots thinking that only they can choose our candidates.

        1. I’m afraid that even if the legislature tried to move all the statewide office contests to the primary and declared an emergency to get it done immediately, somebody would sue to keep the current arrangement until at least 2028. Petition circulation is from January 1-March 31. Somebody would be sure to complain if the law changed next January. While some of us can already see that the SDGOP doesn’t have enough money to hold a convention, most people don’t. We have already passed the November 3, 2025 deadline to submit a ballot measure for the 2026 general election.
The shit show will have to go on for at least another year.

Taffy Howard suggested in 2022 that the candidates should pay for the convention, because the Freedumbasses said they should not have to “pay to vote.” The only way the candidates might be interested in footing the bills is if they pay the attendance fees for the delegates they have recruited, in other words, they would pay the way for the delegates they have hired. Whoever hires the most delegates wins.
          Great idea, Taffy!

    1. Larry has NOTHING to do with the SDGOP in regard to its governance. The SDGOP exists to help promote Republican candidates; in other words, a support system. No linear lines to the Governor or any other legislator. It has become a sh!t show. Truly saddened.

    2. Check the SDGOP website calendar. They don’t even list his events! They’ll post Hansen’s and Doeden’s events, but not Dusty’s or Larry’s events.
