In case you caught the comment thread from Representative Logan Manhart’s bewilderment that the interim rules committee passed a reduction of the speed limit in his county and he didn’t notice, there was a comment in there from State Senator “Sticky” Tom Pischke.
Which predictably garnered some eyerolling. But, after one innocuous comment about why people don’t take Tom seriously, he launched into a tirade where I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a South Dakota legislator address anyone like this, much less a South Dakotan. But he did:
That’s a South Dakota State Senator, calling a South Dakotan a “douchebag” and taunting him with a claim that “your wife said I was impressive too?” Ew.
I know that’s not true, as “the wife” has been involved in politics and government for more than a decade. And she is well aware how classy Tom Pischke is. Unfortunately, it’s all low class.
Pischke later edited/deleted the later comment, but not before a screenshot was taken to be preserved for the ages.
Maybe he should not have tapped it out in the first place?
You know, it would be a shame if someone made postcards of all the vile things TP has said and mailed it to the voters in that district.
These people just need to be voted out. our limit of morons in state legislature is at capacity. There’s 7 of them in a tie for biggest moron right now. Krazy Kate out west is an outside honorable mention.
Don’t expect the stellar leadership in Pierre to do anything. They put Tommy boy as vice chair of Ag for gods sake.

Is Pischke in leadership over in the senate? If so, he should have his position removed. He is another who sarcastically replied to Mr. Beauchamp stating he was a child of God.

Tom Pischke’s behavior isn’t just embarrassing — it’s completely unfit for someone in elected office or on the GOP Central Committee. Calling constituents names and making gross comments about someone’s wife? That’s not “tough talk,” it’s trash behavior.
He got formally censured by his own county party. That should tell you everything. If he had any sense of accountability or respect for the office, he’d resign. Instead, he doubles down and keeps dragging the rest of us down with him.
And let’s not forget — Tom’s district partner Jon Hansen is running for Governor and still proudly aligning himself with this behavior. He’s constantly defending Pischke, no matter how low Tom sinks. If this is who Jon surrounds himself with, it says a lot about the kind of administration he’d run.
Is this the “family values” Jon preaches about? Because enabling vulgar, censure-worthy conduct isn’t leadership — it’s hypocrisy.
Minnehaha deserves better. The party deserves better. Time for Tom to go.
No elected official or candidate should be in support of this.
The person Tom said this about was a long-time TAR/CR, a Senior Deputy State’s Attorney, and is a new mom after just having a baby about 2 weeks ago. It’s almost like he has something against stable, happy people where he has to try to drag them into the gutter with him.
