Thune Joins Hannity, America’s Newsroom
“There are lots of flaws in Obamacare, but all the promises, none of them came to fruition. It was all a big lie, and I think the American people are onto it.”

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) joined Hannity and America’s Newsroom on Fox News.

I saw the article title and knew instantly, before scrolling down, that it would be another screenshot of him just complaining about the opposition party. How long before people realize pointing fingers isn’t lowering prices or reducing the deficit? If they never realize this, I am in the wrong business; I need to start selling excuses, too.
Well said
Totally agree. John is DC
The Democrats created this situation. The Republicans are not responsible for Obamacare.
We warned you. We told you it was going to make health insurance more expensive.
Now you are blaming Republicans for not cleaning up your mess, and for not having a plan to clean up your mess.
Tell Nancy and Chuck to clean it up. We’ll wait.
For 15 years the GOP has been “working on an alternative.” As someone with a pre-existing condition, I implore them to just shut up and leave it alone.
They gutted every element that would make it successful. Republicans never present solutions. They only destroy attempts at anything they would help. Concepts of leaders.
Thune is a disgrace. Trashing Obamacare, the greatest improvement in American health in history and because it was a democratic idea he feels that politics makes him have to badmouth it. They haven’t ever come up with anything better. The newest attempt is absurd.
Shame on Thune!!
I’m so sick of the gaslighting. If the ACA has problems now, it’s because Thune and his chums have fought to pluck policies out of it and get rid of them so that the original law isn’t even there anymore. They fought to get rid of the mandate, which took healthy people out of the system, which raised costs. It’s things like that, that have made it a “lie.” Instead of addressing key issues with insurance companies and actual health care, they just keep blaming the strawman of Obamacare. Thune does not know how to lead or govern.
The ACA took the healthiest demographic, the 18-26 year olds, out of the insurance pool. The Republicans didn’t do that, the Democrats put that in there.
Then they took away any waiting period for pre-existing conditions. The Republicans didn’t do that, the Democrats did..
The individual mandate has not been eliminated but the penalty has been reduced to 0. The Republicans voted for that, but it can be reinstated at any time.
How are they out of the insurance pool?
Yes, they are still on their parents insurance, but that’s STILL part of the total pool. It doesn’t matter if they are on their own or if they are on someone else, they are still insured so there are still young healthy people with insurance.
Declaring healthcare a “right” isn’t noble—it’s a sneaky way to force doctors into servitude.
I heard John say: “Nothing is better than Obamacare.” Because so far the GOP alternative is nothing.
actually, if you listen to him, the GOP alternative is to create HSAs with the money going directly to people. Right now the insurance companies get the money for signing people up. It sounded good until somebody noticed how many people were listed as being insured, who never filed any claims. These are policies that the government is paying the premiums for, the money going directly to the insurance companies.
It seems the insurance companies are insuring people who don’t know they have insurance. Or the insured parties have died and the federal government is still paying the premiums. This doesn’t pass the smell test..
The GOP plans offered are continuations of the incremental dismantling of ACA that the GOP has demanded since it was approved. The “subsidies” are misnamed and kept in play as short term bandaids by a gutless government that won’t put people’s tax dollars to supporting this care on an ongoing basis. Trump has managed to both greatly reduce taxpayer services to the public AND balloon the nation’s debt. Nothing in the GOP plans is inconsistent with this.
HSA’s only work for folks that have health coverage already and use them as a supplement. Using HSA’s to purchase coverage only leads to people going into bankruptcy. Either way insurance companies end up with the money.
When do we wake up and see the insurance model just doesn’t work well for human healthcare? This isn’t a car we have a loan out on where we decide if it is worth replacing the alternator. This is our existence, and we are trying to use the dollar as a deciding factor and I don’t know anyone who would pick profit over their life. Other people’s lives is easy, but when it is your own, nobody picks the money.
Imagine how awful his approval rating must be. lmao
