South Dakota College Democrats are apparently doubling down and manufacturing their own outrage over my my prior post pointing out how they referred to Taffy Howard, and apparently other legislators, including a few women, as a “slut” & “bitch.”
And in their explanation as they pound their chests and say “we’re the democrats, F’ers,” they feel justified in doing so because they copied something from a movie, which is something we all knew:
I have to ask – how many votes exactly do they think they’re going to sway by referring to women and sluts and bitches? I mean, maybe it fires up their friend group on social media.. but in the real world where people vote, it’s the same problem when goofballs are out there on the right.
Most South Dakotans whether they are registered R, I or D are not going to be motivated by such fringe behavior to cast a vote their way, as much as they’re going to wonder if their parents are seeing this.
And really, isn’t the end game about actually winning elections?
Just FYI, the college-age crowd was what carried MAGA across the finish line, and they are now starting to oppose, according to recent polling. There are like 400 followers to this “collegedemSD” instagram account, I’m not sure your cancel attempt going back 20 years to the purity version of the GOP is going to sway anyone from any side. We are in the era of “nasty nasty woman”, “pocahontas”, “grab em by the …”. I don’t think anyone is shocked by this rhetoric anymore, even the puritans have seemed accepted it.
A “cancel attempt?” By pointing out that they’re nuking their cause?
Whatever. They can go with that and see how far it gets them.
I can’t tell if you are serious. At the bare minimum, calling people terrible names seems to have little impact on South Dakota elections. For some, it actually seems to HELP.
You Democrats simply can’t be helped in the slightest.

I used to be a democrat. I used to go to Democratic party events and realized I was rubbing shoulders with slovenly parasites. I mean really, they were SLOBS. And all they wanted was free food and to find out what the candidate would do for them.
When I became a Republican, I found myself rubbing shoulders with clean people who paid for their food and asked the candidate what they could do to help.,
It’s a completely different class of people, who have jobs and wear deodorant. There really is a hige difference between Democrats snd Republicans.

I don’t think old fashioned campaign practices apply any more. And the current GOP practice of strolling along like nothings out of the ordinary will not end well either.
As a college student here in South Dakota, I am absolutely appalled by this language being directed towards our elected officials. Now I might not agree with every decision and vote that Representative Howard makes, or any elected official for that matter, but I would never dream of calling them these things. This includes both Democrat and Republican legislators. If they want to push back about this being lines from a classic teen movie, go ahead and reinforce your words, but it definitely shows that they missed the whole message behind Mean Girls. Words hurt, and you will find consequences for the things you do and say. In the age of the internet we grew up in, I’m afraid that college students forget this.
