This wasn’t on the BINGO card of the bizarre this week. But hot off the press this afternoon former NDGOP ED for a week Dave Roetman sent out e-mails to South Dakota GOP candidates claiming to be approved by the SDGOP to work with them to offer a product called Right-Insight.

In case you forgot about Roetman already after my post earlier this week, where he’s signed up to run for the Minnehaha County register of deeds, Dave has managed to carve out some infamy all his own:
The newly-appointed executive director of the North Dakota Republican Party is officially on the outs early into his position after it was discovered that his X account is riddled with racist and sexist tweets.
It took only 10 days after Dave Roetman was hired on to be the state’s party executive for him to resign after those social media posts were found and reported.
It was also reported that in response to a woman’s post about relationship advice, he said, “Here’s a quarter, keep it between your knees.” He approved groping women, and in response to another X user’s post about whether an attractive woman in a photograph could make sandwiches, made a joke about making pies.
And..
“I am a man who stands by his words,” he told Rob Port.
That does not sound like a recipe for building a winning campaign together. As the candidate who sent me the e-mail thought as well, as she expressed her sentiments in one word: “Ugh.”
If they’re hiring Dave to rep them here, maybe they should rebrand as ‘far-right with no insight, and women can just make me a pie.”
Update:
An attendee related to me, somewhat shocked, that “Eschenbaum announced at the Brookings LDD last night that they were rolling out a new app for candidates and Dave Roetman was in charge of it!!”
I’m sure this will go well.

Let me guess… he’s a shad Olson fan…
Toby guy.

Wow. Just wow.
This is a brand new program that nobody knows anything about, we’re two and a half months from the primary, and all the candidates are panicked. If being in charge of this means he gets distracted from his own campaign, then maybe there’s a rainbow in the storm?
I’d also point out that we’re less than 30 days from the start of early voting.
Very true. The SDGOP have rolled this out a year ago so everyone could have a chance to get comfortable with it.
All by himself, he almost destroyed the Minnehaha GOP and PRE. Maybe he’ll finish off the SDGOP.
So far, the SDGOP candidate campaign resources are Roetman and Rich Hilgemann—are we being Punk’d? Two absolute jokes.
The state party remains an embarrassment. Are they trying to write the book on “how to throw away a legacy”?
The data is so out of date it’s not even funny. Here’s a thought that would be helpful: get the updated SOS voter registration list when it’s published and upload it into a platform.
PS what SDGOP probably doesn’t know is any out of state campaign director is also getting the data and probably using it to their advantage.
Of course they haven’t thought of that, it’s taken all their collective brain power to raise $11 in the last 18 months. It’s painfully clear they have no idea what they’re doing. Your average middle school student council is more efficient than the current SDGOP leadership.
I’ve spoken with now 3 candidates today who didn’t get the e-mail, despite being well known, running for months, or having ran last election. This seems.. selective.
It totally is. They have an agenda. Come June 2, I believe, a majority of their sycophants will have been gone
So they might be planning to give the “good” data to their preferred candidates? Or maybe we should assume Hanlon’s razor and assume it’s just stupidity.
Just another reason to not donate to the SDGOP, as if we needed one.
I’m waiting to hear what Arch Beal thinks of Roetman’s “help.”
It’s not my story to tell….
