From facebook ads last night, one legislator pointed out to me that state Democrats have a push to fill legislative seats in Pierre for the mid-term elections. Not to mention this push comes against a disastrous Republican party organization:

Just something to consider when picking Republicans in the primary. Maybe that picking a candidate with broad based support is better than a single-issue train wreck.

Good! Hope they win every single one of the races they entered and bring this state back to responsible governing for ALL!
Without the counterbalance of a healthy opposition party as we have experienced destructive extremism has predictably occurred. It has been costly for our districts and state.
Ehhh let’s just let the chips fall as they may. There may be no way to return the GOP to being a party that can govern for all. Even at its best, it wasn’t very good at that. Parents and grandparents need to firmly tell the kiddies they raised to voting age exactly WHY Daschle, Johnson, McGovern, Herseth, Kneip and others were the best choice to voters from both parties over and over again.
When a portion of the 83 percent find out how time consuming and expensive that running is, it may cause pause. The last Dem candidate running in a nearby district found out there was little monetary support. The people who pushed him to run were nowhere around to do the hard work. Their financial support in the past went toward the AG and Governor candidates. Ahlers is going to need thousands for his campaign. That is where the Dem money should go instead of messing around with small timers.
Ahlers needs jumper cables is what he needs.
Evidence of the failure of the SDGOP and nationally. Your blind allegiance to Trump is helping the opposition.
Hey now, what about all the SDGOP candidates who are multi-issue train wrecks? Surely a single-issue train wreck would be an improvement.
Probably going to vote Democrat for the first time. It couldn’t possibly be worse than the BS cover-ups, nonsense foreign wars, elimination of personal privacy rights, and selfish manrket manipulation we have with GOP.
Young Mr. Ahlers running for the Governor slot is going to doom many of these steps the Democratic Party has made. Dan can do a fine job beating Mr. Eschenbaum because…eh…Eschenbaum…but he cannot raise money to cover all his minions and counter the Rhoden Rhangers as they start to ramp up to full stride. Mr. Dusty probably has plenty of cha cha just from the federal government but the rest of the people will have to give to either Mr. Rhoden or Mr. Ahlers.
The real test of this is November. Rick Hauffe designed the model of filling all 105 Dem seats, but by the August withdrawal date a bunch were gone. But, you can’t win where you don’t run, and while the purple hair slot fillers still loose 99% of the time, the others will win a couple.
And sometimes we hand them seats if they have a candidate: Hoerth in Aberdeen and the guy in Rapid the Adelstein funded. Last year Ahlers was caught flat-footed when the GOP did the circular primary firing line. Sounds like they may be better situated if we hand them a gift- after two years of a legislature that ran like a clown car – the public may side with them
Most won’t get anywhere because they have zero help. And, according to my Dem friends, they all were texted to run in their district, not the best way to recruit candidates.
I’m a lifelong Republican who has consistently voted in Republican primaries. The Dems texted me asking if I’d run as a Democrat. Their algorithm is busted.
Check your registration. They’ve contacted no party affiliates and Independents as well.
Time for everyone to get off the Trump Train because it’s going off the tracks fast.
