Democrat State Rep. Bordeaux claims white people take in Native American children to be indentured servants

I’m not sure how a person responds to this video featuring State Representative Shaun Bordeaux making a statement in the video of his impression of what happens when white families take in Native American children:

“I’ll be up there in Pierre, and there will be some old wasichu guy, and I hate to paint this picture, but I see a little indian girl, and I’m thinking gee that poor girl might come from a dysfunctional home, was taken out of it, and she’s probably cleaning in their home, and keeping the place tidy, and he gets $300 a month for his little indentured servant or whatever.”    – State Representative Shawn Bordeaux (26A – D)

This was part of a presentation by a Democrat State Representative to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe? Wow.  (And he’s also on the State-Tribal Relations committee for 2019).

The problem with racism is that it doesn’t matter what color your skin is. It’s offensive no matter who says it.

  1. Shawn never misses a chance to be disrespectful.. He does absolutely nothing to promote harmony among people…always the victim.

  2. Shaun likes to make racist comments. This wasn’t his first, surely won’t be his last. He’s just wired to be racist

Had the opportunity to have one of his racist rants directed at me, it’s just reality around him

  3. Time for Brock to step up to the plate and take him off the committee. He can go committee less in 2020.

    1. Haugaard or whomever has the authority to say racism doesn’t have a place in SD needs to take action.

  4. Mr. Bordeaux is not only racist, but he is well known to the one of the least smart in the legislatures and is often mocked roundly for it.

  5. What a dumb ass statement Shaun. Would you adopt a white child from a dysfunctional family? You didn’t even stand up for the Native students when it came to the Gear-up scandal.
