The funding for RL 21 comes from the Biden Harris Inflation reduction act…$85 per metric ton of captured CO2. So the ethanol producers of South Dakota are now claiming Trump agrees with the Biden/Harris energy policies? This project is opposed to both populist movements (from the right and the left), with only those who want to make money on the backs of “We The People” supporting it… the Republican Establishment crony capitalists, not to be confused with free market capitalists.
Here’s “we the people” not understanding the bill again. It’s not a pipeline approval or denial bill. The pipeline will likely happen regardless of this bill. This bill puts protections in place for landowners and puts money in the pockets of the county, so they can potentially reduce property taxes. Voting yes doesn’t mean the pipeline will happen, just as a no vote doesn’t stop it. If you think keep carbon capture is dumb, join the club. But I’m voting yes because when the pipeline gets it common carrier status, I want some protections in place and I want our ag producers to be able to sell their corn and our ethanol producers to have access to the billion dollar aviation fuel market.
“This bill puts protections in place for landowners”, that is the big lie being promoted by the proponents. RL21 lists landowners protections that our provided by other statutes that will not go away due to the demise of RL21.
Clear indemnification. Required notice. Payment on arrival after notice. Payment for every mile the pipeline crosses your property. It’s not a lie. You’re talking to someone that’s actually read the bill, previous and related statutes, spoke with the sponsors and detractors and I can tell you the disingenuous, fear mongering anti-pipeline group only used this bill for political gain. “Eminent domain for private gain”, “loss of property rights”, all lies that have nothing to do with the actual bill. Short sighted stupidity by the no group. Landowners in ND keep losing in court on some of these issues and I can bet they wish they had some of these protections codified. Unfortunately people will believe the crap because they won’t take the time to go read it for themselves or ask questions from the sources.
Rl21 I s about the 45Q carbon tax credit found at the bottom of page 75 of this link regarding the Biden Inflation Reduction Act. Clearly this law is bad for American, bad for South Dakota, an bad for agriculture. Where can it be found that Trump supports BIden’s Inflation Reduction Act?:
So Pat, unless you can explain away the facts from the above truths, you are responsible for wealthy using you to promote lies designed to fool South Dakotans by sending out the mailer I received today. You should be ashamed, but I doubt that you are. Instead you probably are very proud.
If you want to stand with the energy policies of the Biden/Harris administration that is on you. But to say Trump is also on board with Biden, that is an out right lie.
Well, Trump is on board with our ag producers. Trump is pro business. Trump is for fewer regulations. RL21 seems to fit that mold. Not a leap for me to think he would be in favor it.
The funding for the Yes side is not coming from Ag producers as much as it is from corporations with deep pockets who believe they are entitled to welfare payments via Bidens’ 45Q tax credits, thus increasing the federal debt in order to put plant food into a hole in the ground. How is that good for Ag producers?
Ummmm corn prices rise. Producer makes money. Economics. I agree carbon capture is dumb. But this isn’t voting on a bill to stop a carbon pipeline from happening. Carbon credits? Dumb. Again, voting no doesn’t change the inevitable.
Interesting Pat, so why are some of the environmentalists opposed to carbon capture? Second, I heard that the 45Q at that time was $50 per metric ton, and BIden’s Inflation Reduction Act raised it to $85. Third, those who talk about the Uni-Party seem to have a handle on the reality on today’s political environment…only the money matters to both party establishments.
This is from Pat’s link:
“On February 7, 2019, Barrasso joined with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) to reintroduce the USE IT Act. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Tom Carper (D-DE), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL),Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Tina Smith (D-MN), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Mike Enzi (R-WY) also joined as original cosponsors.”
So this is not about Democrat versus Republican, nor right versus left, instead this is about politicians playing games designed to take control of not only our land, but also our lives. I am not opposing RL21 because of environmental reasons, I am opposing it because it is taking away freedoms. Pigeon holing me into Jane Fonda’s worldview is an example of the economic elites (and their political hackers) playing games that tricks people in believing falsehoods.
These tax Funds started with the Bush Administration…Obama kept it…Trump added money to it as did Biden. Its coming from both sides! I can NOT believe how many fools don’t understand what they are voting against.
We will be voting YES on RL21…Farmers SUPPORTING Farmers!!
This may explain why the Jane Fonda types are opposed to RL21:
“When Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in 2022, it set the stage for the largest climate and clean energy investments in America’s history. But embedded within the IRA’s passage were a handful of provisions that, if implemented poorly, could instead use taxpayer money to subsidize the dirty fossil fuel industry without any meaningful climate benefits. It is absolutely critical that the Biden administration implement every provision of the IRA consistent with its core purpose of fighting the climate crisis.”
Can someone please tell me how this bill gives the carbon pipeline free rein to go wherever they want and take from landowners without payment and impose their will on everyone? Going to be some sad people if this bill gets shot down and the carbon pipeline gets it’s common carrier status. Then Summit will be laughing about how much money they saved not having to pay landowners to come on the land to survey. Not have to pay a dollar per foot to the county. Not have to waste money burying it a foot deeper than currently required.
She sure has padded her pockets with all her lies…Must be selling Kool Aide too! If I was foolish enough to believe anything she says, I would be so embarrassed… She is all for herself!!
Because the permit was already denied once. This is quid pro quo between the Legislature, Summit, and the PUC. Pass the bill, get the permit. We don’t want the permit issued because the pipeline does not benefit the public, only the ethanol and pipeline companies.
Farmers sell 2/3 of their corn to ethanol plants. If the ethanol plants go out of business, farmers are f*cked! How do you folks not get that? It seems obvious very few of you are actual farmers earning a living off the land.

If the government can forcibly make me sell the land for a private entity to gain, do I really “own” it? Nothing is wrong with the pipeline, but if we support capitalism, it will happen with an open market, not forced government intervention. Are you a communist or a capitalist? Make your pick; how about that?
The globalists don’t need to own our land, they want to control it. Easements is one of their tools. The globalists control the SDGOP, that is why they are ignoring the landowners and instead pushing the phony bill of rights regarding RL21. Landowners bill of rights are in the Constitutions, not RL21.
Steve, I would guess you have electricity and water in your house with easements allowing the city to do so. I doubt it was the globalists trying to control your land.
The people against RL21 have NO true skin in the game! Maybe they are fighting so hard because they are not being offered easements??? The CO2 pipeline will be safer than any current pipeline. Summit is only crossing agreeable landowners and paying quite well for the simple privilege to install a pipeline that will give a huge boost to SD Corn Growers. Talk to the Ethanol plants…everyone of them is on board! IF you are so against this project then quite taking your corn to an Ethanol plant!! RL21 is NOT just for this current project but any future projects!! It has NOTHING to do with getting a permit!!!
Ethanol demand will decline. EV sales continue to increase though the ICE will be with us for some time as there is no technological and/or affordable replacement for some applications.
How? There are some that do direct sequestration like red trail energy or blue flint but that is geography dependent. It comes down to what is feasible, and most will simply shut down. Renewable inputs have to be located at the facilities. You either lower your ci score through inputs like energy usage, farming practices, or you do it on the backend by handling the exhaust, or both. Otherwise, who is going to buy it? What happens to farmers and corn prices when ethanol plants shut down? How does that effect national security regarding energy production if we lose ethanol?
Our national security will be just fine with a reduction of ethanol production and demand. Increased EV adoption is reducing demand and with fracking technology we are secure on that front.
So your plan is to have the ethanol industry shut down. The No on 21 folks should put that in their ads so everyone understands their “vision.” Thats clearly what Jane Fonda wants, too.

Steve where were you when keystone stole our land and we had no rights to stop it? Wake up!!
YES!! Someone who thinks…couldn’t agree more!!
You are 100% correct!! I will be voting YES with you!!
You fool…Trump added Funds to this before Biden did…It all started with the Bush Administration!

What freedoms are being stripped away?

Which one of ya’ll is Jane Fonda posting on here?
I’m with Jane on this issue…they can build the pipeline with easements from willing sellers.
This bill doesn’t deal with eminent domain. Eminent domain is actually another issue altogether.
This may explain why the Jane Fonda types are opposed to RL21:

Bingo. I hope they all call Radke and get refunds on their t-shirts.

Soooo, work together to find a solution? This permit is going to happen. There needs to be protections, compensation and recourse when it does.
Oh and carbon mitigation is already being seen as a public benefit. I think it’s dumb, but it’s what’s happening.
Farmers sell 2/3 of their corn to ethanol plants. If the ethanol plants go out of business, farmers are f*cked! How do you folks not get that? It seems obvious very few of you are actual farmers earning a living off the land.
I support me being able to “own” what I’ve bought. How about that? No on 21.
You still own it. It’s an easement. And “no” doesn’t stop the pipeline from happening. How about that?
If the government can forcibly make me sell the land for a private entity to gain, do I really “own” it? Nothing is wrong with the pipeline, but if we support capitalism, it will happen with an open market, not forced government intervention. Are you a communist or a capitalist? An easement for a utility line is not selling anything. Stop reading facebook.

I don’t have a need to have high pressured CO2 pumped into my house.
Again this bill isn’t about eminent domain or approving the pipeline.
People have sussed out that yes, it basically is.
Because people like you are lying to them and saying that it is.
Is everyone in denial of how the South Dakota Supreme Court ruled on SCS?
Stop supporting idiot trump, he hates people not like him, and doesn’t care what women have to say just likes to oogle and fondle them.
Carbon capture is a hoax. The whole premise for the pipeline is a fraud. Trump will authorize the keystone XL to replace it. Book it
Does Radke read Fonda’s talking points? Just curious how this partnership works.
The people against RL21 have NO true skin in the game! Maybe they are fighting so hard because they are not being offered easements??? The CO2 pipeline will be safer than any current pipeline. I’ve asked many times, but have gotten no answer–why don’t the ethanol plants take care of their own carbon dioxide emmissions?
How? There are some that do direct sequestration like red trail energy or blue flint but that is geography dependent. It comes down to what is feasible, and most will simply shut down.
