I notice Toby Doeden is on Twitter tonight claiming that Gubernatorial candidate Jon Hansen’s people are in talks with his for Hansen to fall in line and follow:

Toby’s not very subtle public message to Hansen notes “All well intended members of the grassroots movement, including Jon, know that joining forces is the right thing to do.”
Toby presuming he knows what “the grassroots movement” thinks is kind of a bold statement, considering that Toby voted in his first Republican primary – ever – in 2024, just this last year. (Unless flying to GOP dinners in his jet has infused him with a unique sense of commonality.)
But, let’s also consider that Hansen has spent the last several years doing what Leslie Unruh tells him to do. So, handing his leash over to Toby wouldn’t really be much of a change in routine.
Stay tuned. Maybe our Christmas miracle will be they both drop out.

What happened to Taffy?
There’s no way. Hansen is the stronger of the two candidates. He would never give in to Doeden.
I think the more likely scenario is that Jon exits the race and joins the Rhoden campaign. Possibly in the capacity as Lt. governor. If successful it would basically neuter him for 4 years as that position doesn’t have much legislative power, but keeps him relevant with his base for another run in 4 years.
Lems goes and joins Tobi then?
Wow! That is quite the BOLD statement by the newcomer to politics whatsoever. You don’t move the Janitor to CEO just because the Janitor got an inheritance (from the taxpayers) and gave it to a select few legislators and a County Commissioner candidate but I guess those are bought and paid for. But not surprising given his past.
According to the last poll, if you combine Hansen’s and Doeden’s polling, that number still doesn’t reach Dusty’s or Rhoden’s individual numbers (and Rhoden hadn’t even announced at the time of the last poll).
Not to mention, of the three that actually have a voting record (vs just hot air), according to the unbiased CPAC who rates all legislator’s CONSERVATIVE votes and ranks them, Rhoden is at 87% conservative lifetime record, Hansen is at 85% and Dusty at 77% (https://www.cpac.org/us/ratings).
Regarding Hansen and Unruh, Amendment G was failing in the polls until Noem and Rhoden gave tens of thousands of their own money to defeat it. Mostly radio ads if I recall. All while Hansen was collecting a paycheck from it.
I think the best way to find the most conservative is to consider facts not babble. That might be a hard pill for Hansen to follow so it’s highly unlikely for him to move toward Doeden but we should all be prepared for a strange cycle. Doeden is starting to stink of Stace Nelson 2.0; they both think alot of themselves being the number one commonality.
Don’t forget about Dusty also. He gave an incredible amount to defeat G.
Doeden’s polling must show Hansen eating into his support. Otherwise they wouldn’t be reaching out to Hansen and kicking their supporters like Taffy Howard to the curb.
Team Doeden’s obsession with fringe legislators and Jon Hansen are a major distraction from his outsider message.
I like that he’s an outsider. I don’t like that he is so focused on fringe elements of the gop.
Other than a few issues that Trump is a hardliner on he is a fairly moderate person and non ideological person.
Everything I’ve been hearing tells me Lems and Hansen lean more towards Rhoden.
Toby from our perspective is not and has never been very bright always looking for the easy/sleezy way to get ahead. He basically fell into an opportunity with a solid support structure that was already in place put in place by an owner before the one he purchased the dealership from. All Toby had to do was listen to what they advised and reported.
This campaign again from our perspective is all about how it will benefit the Doeden family financially. Guess who will benefit from this sudden manufactured urgency to eliminate property taxes? Toby Doeden and other large rental property owners plus the wealthy. The poor, working poor, those on fixed incomes and middle class will be hit the hardest once again with very regressive costs.
Besides it appears to us that fellow Team Toby conspiracy enthusiast Shad Olson has been ripping on the Hansen campaign and their supporters non stop. Hansen/Lems most likely realize the toxic history, baggage and political liabilities of the putrid Dumpsterfire Doeden campaign. Toby Doeden overwhelmingly voted the most unpopular person up there in Aberdeen.
Toby is so full of shit. One minute he’s calling Dusty and Larry corrupt career politicians, the next he’ll say they’re good guys or wish them Merry Christmas. He does the same with Jon. Pretends like the guy doesn’t exist then says he has the utmost respect for him. That’s not respect. Not to mention, his supporters/surrogates constant attacks on team Hansen.
Toby has no moral compass. He’ll just say whatever he thinks people want to hear in that moment. A bunch of empty, unrealistic bulllllshit. Typical sleazy salesman.
This is the best summary of Doeden, politically (personally, all you have to do is read the Aberdeen newspaper posts comments). Sadly, it seems some are falling for it. I figure the real Toby will expose himself sooner or later.
I second that sadly many are falling for it. Outside of the political world people are buying his BS.
Jon Hansen would eviscerate Toby Doeden in a televised political debate. Checkmate! The Doeden Dumpster Fire campaign would be hauled away, extinguished and disposed of following toxic waste protocols at a regional landfill.
HAHAHA what universe are you in?
Toby Doeden is a gold mine of opposition material to work with. Toby will literally be transformed into the Looney Toons cartoon jackass during the debate. Here boy! Here Boy! Thanks for playing Toby! Campaign over!
jackass donkey cartoon compilations
He does that every time he opens his mouth.
Methinks Doby Toeden got into the liquor cabinet again.
Idea: Tony and Jon debate each other and the winner gets to be the nominee for their “coalition”.
Would be fun to play a drinking game during the debate. Every time Jon says “carbon pipeline” or “new green deal scam” take a shot. Every time Toby says “career politician” or “political outsider” take a shot. You would be hammered within 5 minutes. I also find it a little disingenuous that Toby says his campaign is completely self-funded and he won’t take a dime from anyone. Why is there a huge “donate” link on his campaign page?
If Toby wants to “uNiTe the GraSSroOts” so bad and he wants a “no rules” debate so bad, challenge Jon Hansen and agree that the loser drops out.
He won’t because he knows Jon would wipe the floor with him. All Toby has is his grand theories about “harvesting external revenue” and doge saving millions that don’t translate to reality. Jon would embarrass the guy.
Can’t wait for the debate- I want to hear how Tubby explains his tweets, especially the one where he dismisses the rise in anti-Semitic attacks in the wake of October 7th.
