The Doeden campaign switched to damage control today in the wake of the new Rhoden campaign ad with his recorded voice declaring he voted for Barack Obama for President in a presidential election, according an article in the Dakota Scout:
“I have been a lifelong conservative, and every single statement I have ever made backs that up. Larry Rhoden’s political consultants are slicing and dicing audio clips of me every day to try and rewrite history,” Doeden told The Dakota Scout. “Unlike Larry Rhoden, I have supported President Trump since 2015 and have never wavered. I sure as hell never voted for the worst president in our nation’s history, Barack Obama.”
Except, when prompted by the Doeden denial, the full audio was released. And it didn’t help Doeden’s case any:
In the broader context of the clip, Doeden ties his former party registration to the pride he had growing up for his father, whom he described as “a John F. Kennedy Democrat.”
“I’m pretty sure I even voted for Bill Clinton. I think I may have even voted for Barack Obama in 2008. My dad was a registered Democrat. I was a registered Democrat into my 30s,” Doeden says. “Because I was not involved in politics, I didn’t care what I was registered as.”

in their defense, the article also talked about an audio clip released by a Doeden ally, where six years ago the then lieutenant governor was recorded telling Phil Jensen that he would’ve had his ass kicked in the old days.
For most Republicans, that 6 year old clip actually made them think more of Larry for having said that to one of the worst human beings in the South Dakota Legislature.
Maybe Larry was just right about how things would be handled in the old days?

But… you said you did.
Anyhow, I am pretty sure that history will not place Obama as the worst president in history. That will be reserved for the guy who says things like this: “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
He just made it all up. The “massive fraud” that he could never prove in court despite all the money and lawyers imaginable. He lost 60 court cases on the matter. But he was ready to jettison the Constitution over his big lie. And many of you pretend it never happened. It did.
That man deserves the title of worst president in the nation’s history.

It used to always be Warren G Harding, but yeah now it is Trump. Name another president who has wasted trillions of dollars, pocketed billions of dollars, and maniacally glued golden doodads all over the White House walls. OH and wasted public money on an old jumbo jet. OH and started a war that every previous president believed was the stupidest move that could be made.
I could go on.
Mr. Jensen’s voters are ones that need a good gut punch. They have it comin’. grudznick says so and eats breakfast in the District Numbered 33 on occasion. If you want to discuss it with an old man who disrespects your vote, come to breakfast, or stop being insaner than most.
It is easy now to see how people get scammed on a daily basis. Doeden doesn’t know the first thing about government ; yet some gullible people believe his constant lies. You cannot fix stupid, grudznick. Insanity, however, could be a far better alibi.

Believe me, as a lifelong Democrat, you remember if you voted for Obama because you were excited to do so. I think Toby just says whatever the person in front of him wants to hear. Not unique to him as a politician, just saying…he’s full of it all around.

Surprised Doeden hasn’t pulled out the “Rhoden was partying at a house while on the clock”. Maybe that’s the ace up the sleeve.
This reminds me of Tom Daschle’s own words that were used against him during the race against John Thune in 2004.
Doeden may not like it but he can’t escape what he’s said in the past. My vote is going elsewhere.
