The Doeden campaign switched to damage control today in the wake of the new Rhoden campaign ad with his recorded voice declaring he voted for Barack Obama for President in a presidential election, according an article in the Dakota Scout:
“I have been a lifelong conservative, and every single statement I have ever made backs that up. Larry Rhoden’s political consultants are slicing and dicing audio clips of me every day to try and rewrite history,” Doeden told The Dakota Scout. “Unlike Larry Rhoden, I have supported President Trump since 2015 and have never wavered. I sure as hell never voted for the worst president in our nation’s history, Barack Obama.”
Except, when prompted by the Doeden denial, the full audio was released. And it didn’t help Doeden’s case any:
In the broader context of the clip, Doeden ties his former party registration to the pride he had growing up for his father, whom he described as “a John F. Kennedy Democrat.”
“I’m pretty sure I even voted for Bill Clinton. I think I may have even voted for Barack Obama in 2008. My dad was a registered Democrat. I was a registered Democrat into my 30s,” Doeden says. “Because I was not involved in politics, I didn’t care what I was registered as.”

in their defense, the article also talked about an audio clip released by a Doeden ally, where six years ago the then lieutenant governor was recorded telling Phil Jensen that he would’ve had his ass kicked in the old days.
For most Republicans, that 6 year old clip actually made them think more of Larry for having said that to one of the worst human beings in the South Dakota Legislature.
Maybe Larry was just right about how things would be handled in the old days?

Anyhow, I am pretty sure that history will not place Obama as the worst president in history. That will be reserved for the guy who says things like this: “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
He just made it all up. The “massive fraud” that he could never prove in court despite all the money and lawyers imaginable. He lost 60 court cases on the matter. But he was ready to jettison the Constitution over his big lie. And many of you pretend it never happened. It did.
That man deserves the title of worst president in the nation’s history.

Name another president who has wasted trillions of dollars, pocketed billions of dollars, and maniacally glued golden doodads all over the White House walls. OH and wasted public money on an old jumbo jet. OH and started a war that every previous president believed was the stupidest move that could be made.

Continuing then, – Trump’s amazing brilliant tariffs are paid for mostly by the average American consumer. WE have nobody to pass that cost off to, yet the chain passes it all along to us. HEY those tariffs were declared illegal and were supposed to be REPAID to us and there’s no plan for that.
Trump still plans to pry 1.8-billion from the treasury to pay himself and the J6 criminals, even though a court told him not to.
Trump seems to be using the Iran War to manipulate Wall Street investments he and Jared Kushner have at stake.
Funny how it doesn’t just end.
Trump sued the BBC for their program examining the J6 insurrection – but tried unsuccessfully to end it when the court granted the defense access to Trumps family financial records.

Jimmy Carter was a good Christian man who happened to be horrible at his job. Trump is severely lacking in moral character AND is horrendous at his job (well I know I started this war, but hey only 18 service men/women have died so is it really that bad….just his latest example of why he is a horrible example of an American President).

Jimmy Carter started this war when he allowed the Shah to come to the United States OVER THE OBJECTIONS OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT
The State Department advised the White House that if the Shah were allowed sanctuary here, it was quite likely hostages would be taken. My understanding was that it was even recommended that all US nationals and embassy staff be brought home, because protecting them would be impossible.
Carter ignored the warnings, believing tbe Ayatollah was “a holy man,” and we have been at war with Iran ever since.
I realize this is all ancient history to those of you who were not even born in 1979. But that is how we got to where we are today, Iran has been behind multiple attacks on US personnel and assets ever since, funding terrorism all over the world.
Military action against Iran is long overdue.
Again, I agreed Carter was bad at his job. No where did I say he was a great president. Back to my original post. Carter = great guy, horrible president. Trump = Morally bankrupt human AND a TERRIBLE excuse for an American President.
Ok, for sake of keeping conversation going, let’s say Carter did start it, and Trump is amplifying it. (if Carter started it as you say, you agree that Trump has turned it up? No?). How do you justify the way he scoffed at the number dead in his truth social post this weekend? Is that very becoming of a great president??
Let’s go back one leap farther. Carter didn’t make his decision about the Shah in a vacuum. The US had a long history of being Britain’s lackey in their Middle Eastern business exploits, and helped Britain install the Shah in the first place at the behest of oil tycoons.
Trump’s style and personality are offensive. But on matters of substance and policy he is doing what should have been done 40 years ago.
We haven’t had a leader like this since General George Patton. There’s the reason Trump was elected, right there. Deal with it.

THERE IS NO INTELLIGENT PRETEXT FOR WAR against Iran, and the constant foolery of Trump’s pretend war conclusions shows there’s no intelligent effort to end it in place either. Quit the jingo sloganeering about war delayed – justice denied.

Did you watch Hegseth’s testimony in front of the senate committee earlier this week. Senator Rounds came SO CLOSE to calling the whole thing what it is…utter bull. I wish Senator Rounds would have went a step further than he did.
Comparing the clown show in the White House to Genreal Patton is an absolute joke. Hegsethbis good at waging culture wars, but not actual wars.

Mr. Jensen’s voters are ones that need a good gut punch. They have it comin’. grudznick says so and eats breakfast in the District Numbered 33 on occasion. If you want to discuss it with an old man who disrespects your vote, come to breakfast, or stop being insaner than most.
It is easy now to see how people get scammed on a daily basis. Doeden doesn’t know the first thing about government ; yet some gullible people believe his constant lies. You cannot fix stupid, grudznick. Insanity, however, could be a far better alibi.

Believe me, as a lifelong Democrat, you remember if you voted for Obama because you were excited to do so. I think Toby just says whatever the person in front of him wants to hear. Not unique to him as a politician, just saying…he’s full of it all around.

I am sure there are many people who wake up the day after an election and can’t remember if they voted. or for whom.
None of them should be in an elected office. They shouldn’t even be licensed to drive.
Surprised Doeden hasn’t pulled out the “Rhoden was partying at a house while on the clock”. Maybe that’s the ace up the sleeve.
Because people around Tobys area will tell about his disruptive behavior (likely alcohol) and getting ejected from his son’s sporting events . That is why.
This reminds me of Tom Daschle’s own words that were used against him during the race against John Thune in 2004.
Doeden may not like it but he can’t escape what he’s said in the past. My vote is going elsewhere.
“I’m a DC resident.” was the beginning of the end for the SD Democratic Party. No statewide wins in 18 years.
I’m guessing he was just trying to get all those votes from the folks that switched parties to vote in the primary.
And all in the same week that the Pillow Guy in Minnesota is found not to be registered to vote. Can’t make this stuff up.
