The big news in this race is Rhoden’s campaign encouraging Democrats to change registration to vote for him in the runoff.
If I were Doeden, I’d be shouting that from the rooftops.
If I were a Democrat, I would be changing registration to vote for Doeden. Ahlers will mop the floor with Doeden. Ahlers has no chance against Rhoden.
Doeden has to be routed in the runoff. If he wins that, he’ll be governor. If anything, the change of Democrat voters to Republican is a sign of Democrats huge lack of faith and excitement over Ahlers campaign. NO WAY HE WINS and they know they don’t want Doeden. This is all due to the uni-party mess that MAGA has made of the GOP.
Any Dems who vote for Rhoden are really stupid. They have a chance to create a very divided, blown-up GOP.
If Rhoden is the strongest general election candidate then they are political morons and don’t deserve to win for another 50 years.

Doeden did an interview where he bragged that he had Democrats switching parties to vote for him. Not sure he can complain about this one
There is no way Ahlers is going to win. I have yet to meet anyone who even knows he is the SDDP candidate.
Whoever wins the run-off is going to be the next Governor.
The only way voters who are not registered Republicans can have any say in who the next governor will be is if they change their registrations and vote in the run-off.
Hell it’s tough enough to get people to vote let alone change their registration for a few weeks
Toby old friend if you really want this you will have to sacrifice everything. You know President Trump’s endorsement requires you to demonstrate you are loyal and will give everything to be in the club. Even Laura knows this. Set up an appointment at Mara Lago, Make sure Laura is there, fly the jet and bring the titles to all the properties and assets to be transferred to the President. Staff will be there to help and the deal will be sealed. You will be endorsed and our next governor of South Dakota Guaranteed!

I changed my registration back to GOP today to vote in the runoff, and was able to verify the successful change only an hour later on the state website. I’m actually going to miss Monae Johnson. Her successor in the GOP really scares me a bit.
I spent 45 years as a registered Republican before learning in 2024 that the GOP was only a pretend party with Trump running it. It made me register in a different party so don’t whine about me not being a Republican.
I didn’t vote yet, I’m waiting til runoff day because I like to visit with my precinct volunteers when I chuck that old ballot down the vote hole.
