            2. I wouldn’t say that’s the only position that makes sense, but it definitely is a position that makes sense! She’d be a fantastic LG pick for Dusty!

  2. Erin Tobin is a friend with many great qualities, but she has always put her ambition ahead of principles (and her constituents), and it’s unlikely she’ll be elected to another office.

  3. I like Tobin—she did a good job in the legislature. However, if she’s starting to do this type of activity, it would make more sense to first announce that she’s running for something and build some buy-in. Otherwise, having “Tobin for South Dakota” out there without a clear purpose feels a bit odd. Like most current and former legislators, she doesn’t have much statewide name recognition, so teasing something like this doesn’t really resonate with the general public.

    An announcement first would make this effort much more meaningful. And to be clear, I’m not being critical—she’d be a solid candidate for Secretary of State. As for U.S. Congress, I’d assume that’s off the table for now, given her currently low statewide name recognition. If not, SOS, maybe challenge Voita for the senate seat, win that race and rebuild trust with your district, then do something statewide.

  4. Maybe she should run for State Treasurer! Since Jason Williams is forgoing a run, that seat is wide open. She’d be great in that role!

    She sure seems fond of herself. I haven’t seen this much self promo from a former legislator who lost an election in a very long time. Does she not know that her name Id statewide is probably 1%? Maybe she’s working to get it up to 2%?

    1. is Koisti behind this Erin Tobin effort? No wonder it seems so contrived. Consistent with him releasing his own personal comments when Kelly Wasko resigned. Just odd – just like the Tobin stuff. If she’s listening to him, she should reconsider. Everyone I know is laughing at her right now.

      3. Koozies are fun. They are even more fun with an ice cold beers in them when watching SDSU win a football game. I wish more political strategies included koozies. Kudos to koozie makers.
