From Facebook, in the race for Governor, former Speaker of the House Steve Haugaard doesn’t have much nice to say about his former ally Jon Hansen, instead choosing to sing the praises of Toby Doeden this past weekend:

To each their own, I guess. But did anyone point out to Steve how much his guy makes from his liquor and gambling operations? Because I know Steve isn’t big on the giggle water and Toby is as per the Grassroots Conservative Republicans group:

Just askin’

I’m no Dusty fan – but seriously, his problem with Dusty is that he did his job on January 6? I did not think Steve was one of those.
.At this point, why bother endorsing anybody? I know too many people who have disenfranchised themselves from our gubernatorial elections by not bothering to vote in the Republican primaries.
The state has not elected a Democrat to that office since 1974 when Kneip was re-elected. Ever since 1978, when Janklow won it, the governor has been elected in the Republican primary.
I don’t care if you are a Democrat, Independent, non-affiliated or a non-voting Republican, if you don’t vote in the Republican primary you have no vote, and no one to blame but yourself for that. Our next governor will be decided by 35% of the 20% of voters who bothered to (1) register as Republicans, even if they had to hold their noses to do it, and (2) voted.
So, even if the Republican party does terrible things, I still have to vote in its primaries? Those of us “never Trumpers” warned you that this cult of personality would harm you all, and we were laughed at. And now that the crazies are taking over, you are mad at us for not sticking with you despite your terrible decisions? Hell, even now Pat removes mentions of the President, and yet those of us who have a problem with it are the ones you are mad at. Maybe the grand ol party should just do better with the power it’s been given.
Well if my only choice in November for a republican governor is Toby or Dusty I will be voting for whomever is running against them .
It’s ironic thar former Speaker of the House Steve Haugaard was sponsor of a bill and testified several years back with Rep. John Mills to start weening South Dakota off of revenue from video lootery working towards a complete repeal.
Now he fully endorsed addiction profiteer Toby Doeden who boasts in his advertisements that he has the biggest video lottery casino in Aberdeen, with several others across town including a new mini-Legends on North US Hwy 281.
At least Steve could try out Toby’s “World Famous” before it was ever served “FreeDumb” burger while up in Aberdeen.
The elections… were… not… stolen. Not in 2016, 2020 or 2024. Every single state moved toward Biden in 2020 and back toward Trump in 2024. Was EVERY state rigged? For once, try thinking for yourself. Or just try thinking.
Morons.
Trump claimed the Iowa primaries were stolen from him by Ted Cruz in 2016. Funny how Teddy gets in line now behind election conspiracy claims. A complete lack of integrity across the board and posters on this site seem LE SHOCKED that local politicians are running the same dishonest playbook.
That’s right. Never any proof. Just conspiracy theories for dummies.
I was living in Iowa at the time and Cruz supporters from outside of Iowa utilized the same day registration to vote in the caucuses. Whether or not it tipped the results, one would have to review all the people who voted in the caucuses against their date of registration.
Steve who?
💯
This guy thinks he’s relevant.
I don’t hear about him representing the 5 people who live near the new Smithfield location suing the city of SF. I wonder if it was tossed out since anyone with a pulse knew it won’t get far.
“Election integrity” = I’m a kooky conspiracy weirdo.
Steve, the opportunist, knows that there is not a lieutenant governor opening in Hansen’s campaign.
An endorsement from Steve doesn’t mean much, he lost to Noem in primary election for governor and then tried to get elected Lt. Governor at convention by loading up right wing precinct members. He, as we all did, felt that there was a chance that Noem would not finish her second term before Trump offered a position so he saw a way to be governor. Luckily there were enough of us conservatives at convention to vote Rhoden and not Steve as Lt. Governor.
I/we kept the state open during covid again? My God, private business kept the state open, Noem and crew shut their part of the state down. Schools, sporting events, government offices all closed. You couldn’t get in the damn court house or any other government building to take a pee even. How did you get your drivers license? By mail because the state offices were closed.
Private business told the state to kiss off, we are not closing. But then you get a TV camera, news reporter, or a microphone in front of SD politician “We kept the state open” BS Steve
He’s just an ambulance chaser through and through.
Thanks to the Aberdeen embarrassment known as Toby Doeden voter turnout is higher than the 2024 primary
