Sources inform me today that potential felon and State Rep Travis Ismay was denied entry to White House as part of the trip that several legislators took.
Even more, I’m also told that Senator (and similarly legally challenged) Tom Pischke took the plane ride – but was not at the event that legislators attended. I hope the state does not pay the bill on that one if he’s not going to attend the functions.
Another legislator told me Pischke was not at the White House like Ismay, and may have been similarly denied, but nothing official on that.

Nice that felons can’t visit the felon in chief.
The secret service probably has a one-felon-at-a-time policy.
What did those two think was going to happen when they got there? Seriously.
Is it ignorance or arrogance? …I think I just answered my own question.
Thought the same thing.
I assume they expected to be welcomed with open arms cuz they’re conservative good old boys from Sout Dakoda and they voted fer Trump three times. But they don’t realize he doesn’t give a crap about them, just wants their vote.
Getting a free ride to DC does not seem very conservative to me.
Neither one should have been allowed to participate. If they had any integrity whatsoever they would have gracefully withdrawn themselves out of respect for South Dakota taxpayers.
Is Spencer going to fall down the capital steps and break his ankle like when he fell on the mountain in Hawaii on a tax payer funded vacation?
I couldn’t agree more!!
The party of family values, setting excellent examples for our children with how to live their lives with integrity and good character. Perhaps most important of all, following the lead of that incomparable national and international role model: the Commander in Chief.
Commander in thief.
Thank God Almighty. Good thing they did not have a chance to open their mouths and remove all doubt as to lack of intelligence. Hopefully, they didn’t do too much damage to the reputation of South Dakota.
Just showing up with felony charges, voter fraud even, hanging over them is an embarrassment to South Dakota!
Why did Jon Hansen approve them to go? I guess integrity doesn’t matter when your buddy wants a trip on the taxpayer’s dime.
So who is worse, Taffy Howard and her right wing friends that want to do away with the establishment yet take free rides from the establishment.
Bingo. Where is Watchdog Taff on this gross misuse of taxpayer dollars, anyway?! Surely she and her Purity Test Police GOAC friends have something to say!
Though I don’t know her, Lieutenant Governor Taf is possibly the single-most self-serving legislator. From HER property assessments and tax bill, to HER new neighbors from other states that should go back to where they came from, to HER disdain for people on e-bikes having the audacity to try to share a walking/biking path with HER, she is an elitist, so it makes perfect sense that she does for HERSELF (and HER buddies) what she would criticize the rest of her colleagues and the rest of us great unwashed for.
Is she originally from SD?
We need to stop offering these trips. It’s a waste of taxpayer dollars. Did Jon Hansen approved these trips?
I smell a bill coming! Apparently the Eboard didn’t learn its lesson from the last time there was a spectacle made by legislators who weren’t coming back.
These are junkets at best and leads to stupid ideas from national think tanks at worst. Get rid of them!
