No room for hate, vitriol, or personal attacks from people supporting our campaign? As you might’ve guessed, that lasted about a whole five minutes, as you can read from one of his first Facebook posts of the Christmas season:
“There is no room for personal attacks” from one side of his mouth and “Dusty Johnson is a liar.” “Larry Rhoden plans to raise your taxes; he doesn’t think you pay enough” out of the other side.
The only thing you can count on from Toby Doeden is that he will say damn near anything in his pursuit of running for office, regardless of the fact it contradicts what he said five minutes earlier.
In this campaign for governor, how do you know when Toby Doeden is lying? Clearly, it’s when his lips are moving.
Hey Toby, care to explain how you are going to replace billions of local tax dollars with “external revenue?”
Economic development? Oh, my bad. I forgot he says economic development is evil. Magic wand? Oops. Magic is evil, too. Raise sales taxes like Julie Frye-Mueller has proposed or institute an income tax like the Democrats advocate? He hasn’t said that’s evil. Hmmmm… could that be his plan?

Once Toby Doeden’s campaign is over ending in a solid rejection at the ballot box, his out of state former Mark Robinson campaign consultants are gone Toby will go back to acting like he always has. He will post unhinged atrocious comments on social media and be a jerk in the area.

Doeden is a low-life liar who thinks he can buy his way to the governor’s mansion. He assumes that SD voters are stupid enough to believe his claims that property taxes can be eliminated without negatively impacting our children’s future.

Problem is…some voters are stupid enough to believe what he’s saying. Brown Co GOP Chair and its exec board are on that list.
Nothing has changed since his days when you would walk into the dealership and you, a relative or friend would deal with him on the sales floor. He would say and claim anything to make a sale. It was all a game to him. Reeked of sleeze! Buyer and voters beware!
Property taxes are based on assessed value. 2020+ saw a huge increase in property value. South Dakota bills property taxes in arrears (I think the only state to do so.) the market is correcting itself.
THANK YOU!!! As someone who worked with Equalization at a municipal level, 2025 assessments were either steady or even lower than years past. There was a market correction and now it has plateaued. No need to blow it up!
He’s just trying to sell us a crappy used car.
Yep! Typically with the sleeziest in the car business all kinds of claims and promises were made about the car or truck including their 100 point used vehicle inspection. When the engine locks up immediately after you drive it off the lot and it is towed back to the car lot you look for the salesman. No one can find him. He left the building and the receptionist has tried to call him several times and all she gets is his voicemail. The sales manager pulls the file from the sales transaction and informs the poor soul who purchased the vehicle that they signed and acknowledged vehicle was sold “As is, no warranty.”
Let’s make sure we don’t end up electing an “As is, no warranty” administration where he or she declare all previous campaign promises and claims made are null.

Mr. Doeden’s plump and ruddy visage does not seem the sort of healthy cowboy or cowgirl most South Dakotan’s want to be their Governor. Mr. Doeden should release his medical files to ensure voters know he won’t pop or implode if elected.
