My text messages have been blowing up this morning, as an announcement (for an announcement) has been made on Facebook involving State Representative Jon Hansen and Representative Karla Lems.
A little late for April Fools, but here’s what it is:
Promising an “Announcement for the future of South Dakota,” as sponsored by “the People First PAC,” it certainly gives off vibes like this might be an announcement for Gov/Lt. Gov. Which is surprising, since Hansen is not qualified to run for Attorney General, much less be in charge of the entirety of state government. I believe Lems at least has some experience running a business, so I’m not sure what Hansen brings to the ticket…
Fundraising experience, perhaps? (Sorry dude, I only have a $20, and I’m not giving you that.) Hopefully he isn’t going to pull a Rick Weiland and drag that out at the campaign events.
Otherwise, the Political Action Committee underwriting this event is “The People First PAC,” a Political Action Committee that was formed less than a month ago with former Representative Randy Gross as the person behind it:
As opposed to an actual campaign committee, using a PAC is a curious move. The thing that does come to mind is that there is a loophole (the Doeden Loophole) allowing unlimited funds to be “loaned” to a PAC that does not close until the law changes July 1. So we will see.
A number of us are also curious to see how long until this logo changes. Why?
Sometimes you’re so far right that you’re left. And the truth bubbles up to the surface.
** Update**
Here, I have a better graphic of the announcement.
Freudian.
Hilarious.
One trick horses.
Both from SF? I’m sure that’ll go over well with West River
They made a photo op out here with West River ranchers. Are they now considered ranchy? Can’t wait to hear the stories of all the cows Jon milked. That story is played out.
Their vision for South Dakota isn’t one that I’m interested in fostering or furthering.
Definitely puts pressure on Dusty, Larry, and Marty to include their Lt Governors in their announcements and run as a team right from the start. Not only does a running mate allow you to cover more ground than you can by yourself, you look much more put together as a candidate when you can tell voters who you’re running with. Nobody wants to support a candidate who doesn’t have his or her act together.
I don’t think the average voter cares about or knows who the LT candidate is and I would be 90% of the state doesn’t know who the current LT gov is.
Not really. No one cares about LG–it’s basically a ceremonial position anymore anyway.
Except when the Lt becomes governor
A self serving attorney that pretends to know the people and has never had his hands dirty and a spoiled rich woman that only knows that nothing built within 50 miles of her is better than growth.
This doesn’t bode well for anyone.
The memes have begun. Just had this sent.
Is Jon giving a stiff arm salute?
My name is Jon Hansen and I am going to sing you a song I wrote for you being my traveling campaign song for my run for SD Governor. It is called “The Panderer.”
🤢🤢🤢
Karla Lems is a BRAT. Has anyone ever watched her in committee? Rolling her eyes, snickering, whispering with her little girlfriends, snide comments under her breath but making sure they’re heard. I’ve met teenage girls with more honest candor, composure, and professionalism.
But I guess that’s probably the type of girl Jon followed around in high school, so makes sense.
I sincerely believe she doesn’t know how government works and she doesn’t have what it takes to be a leader.
Now that he’s running for Governor, can we finally find out how many dollars he’s been paid personally from SDRTL while serving as a legislator? Biggest money laundering/corruption scheme in South Dakota political history.
This
Stronger together? A slogan neither of them actually follows. They have done nothing but divide and they love it.
Exactly! That campaign slogan must be a joke. Those two enjoyed acts of cruelty in bills some of which were passed into law, scapegoating, demonizing South Dakotans while displaying blatant arrogance. Looking forward to their campaign song “The Panderer” being played on the radio and TV ads.
Bill examples please
How about House Bill 1239 – the lock up librarians act?
https://mylrc.sdlegislature.gov/api/Documents/282522.pdf#page=346
They both voted to lock up librarians. And they both voted against the version that would have those disputes resolved in civil court.
https://mylrc.sdlegislature.gov/api/Documents/284365.pdf#page=520
They SERIOUSLY wanted the penalty for Library employees to be jail time.
HB 1248 (2021) Jon Hansen wanting every woman and family struggling with infertility to register their embryos with the state of SD along with the abortion data. He needs to know, so he can judge you along with the abortionists.
“The people’s representative”. Unless the people aren’t tall, blonde, and fertile.
They better watch their mouths if they are coming into our (Veterans) home.
What are you popping off about?
What about what I wrote confused you?
I knew I heard that slogan somewhere else. Maybe do some research next time, Jon. Tough look.
Jon lost before he even began. That’s rough.
I’m not too enthused about the prospect of a theocracy in SD.

And on the third day, Jon Hansen rose again. Wait, that’s not right. Oh whoops, was reading the new version of the Amanda Radke Bible on sale now. Open Facebook and I’m sure you’ll see it on one of the 1,000 forums she spams 5x daily
