Just listened to the testimony today where the last piece of State Representative Brandei Schaefbauer’s legislative package, HB 1305, was defeated, leaving her with a 0-3 record this legislative session. Boy, a legislative seat is a terrible thing to waste.
From listening to the testimony, I got the impression she does not like reading about South Dakota politics.
However, in rebuttal to her legislation being picked apart by critics who noted that her silly legislation would make a felony out of publishing a legally required delinquent tax notice, Brandei tossed out the quote of the day, on how a legislator would never be in a certain position:
…I do understand. Yah. If you are delinquent on your, um, your taxes, then you probably aren’t going to be here, are you? You know. There is a bar that is set for us as public officials.
Why is this jogging my memory?

Whoops!

From what I’ve seen, it looks like waiting to pay property taxes isn’t a big deal. I and another person published this info about Mary Fitzgerald a couple of years ago and people shrugged it off saying this happens all the time. So now Brandei wants to make it a felony? She says the bar is set high for legislators therefore this would never happen? That jogs MY memory on telling her that same thing: the standards of conduct being higher than usual for legislators because they’re representing the public when she’d troll me through messenger and my fb page defending shad at every turn when he’d attack me and I’d defend myself (and don’t get me started on Dylan Jordan). Can we have legislation on that? Or does shad just constantly get a pass while the rest of us are held to all the higher standards of conduct, morals, ethics….?
I’m ranting so I’ll stop now… the hypocrisy just get me, if you haven’t noticed yet.
Drop the receipts. These people need to be held accountable by their constituents in the next election. I’m tired of “South Dakota Nice” let’s get this stuff out there and in the open and expose them for what they are.
Excuse me. I do not pay any property taxes.
Rhoden forgot to pay his. I agree no one cares.
How about more laws enabling citizens to get legit protection or officers to act when a maniac threatens to eat us and shoot us? Legit verbal/online harassment? Slander? No?
Ok I’ll stop.
I am hoping you’ll tell us the identity of the person at the central committee meeting who said the SDGOP has a secret fu d of dark money.
They threatened to sue me over something else I talked about last year so I’ll wait at the moment.
What an ugly disgusting pig. Katie Hoffman is about as stupid as they come.
Shad?
They failed to spell my name right…again… 🤣🤣
Thank you!
……
Katie, stop. No more comments. Be an adult.
I suppose I can say this now. Representative Schaefbauer told me back in January that she was going to work on this bill. She couldn’t use names in the testimony but Pat that bill was used to go right after you. I’m sure you heard the entire testimony. I think you’re actually being nice to her.
Note the other people that testified today(Representatives Jensen & Jordan) are people that you have criticized as well.
It was interesting that the Democrat Representative Wittman moved it to the 41st day and was agreed upon on a 11-2 vote. The two opposed were Reps Fitzgerald & Hunt.
I found it interesting that DJ Jazzy Jordan was trying to claim that his ex-mother or whatever it was, and his grandmother were somehow exposed.. but missed the part where he explains where one address is where he has his business registered with the state of South Dakota, and the other is where he claims residency on public documents for purposes of running for office. All. Public. Documents.
If you’re claiming residency for purposes of running for the legislature in your nana’s house, and putting nana’s address on your voter registration and all the other public documents that you file with the Secretary of State as a candidate or a legislator and you have a problem with it… then you should potentially consider living somewhere besides your nana’s house.
Once again, Terra Larson, the lobbyist for the South Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers owned these guys when she testified that “everything about this bill is kind of unconstitutional.”
When Democrat Kadyn Wittman sounds more Republican than the people trying to bring this measure (and was absolutely correct in her comments), the so-called freedom caucus-ers might need to take a minute to think.
but Brandie touts herself as a Constitutional Conservative.
Brandei just toots, period.
Toots? Prolly more like claps of thunder
