Tourism Coalition of South Dakota Endorses Governor Larry Rhoden in July 28 Republican Gubernatorial Runoff
YANKTON, S.D. – The Tourism Coalition of South Dakota (TCSD) today announced its endorsement of Governor Larry Rhoden in the July 28 Republican gubernatorial runoff election.
Tourism is one of South Dakota’s largest industries, supporting nearly 60,000 jobs, thousands of small businesses, and communities across the state. TCSD believes South Dakota needs a Governor who understands the significant impact the visitor economy has on businesses, families, and communities—and Governor Rhoden has demonstrated that understanding throughout his years of public service.
During his time as a legislator, Lieutenant Governor, and now Governor, Rhoden has supported South Dakota’s tourism industry and recognizes its role as a major economic driver. Tourism generates state and local tax revenues, supports small businesses, strengthens communities, and helps reduce the tax burden on South Dakota residents.
“Governor Rhoden understands that tourism benefits every South Dakotan,” said Carmen Schramm, Executive Director of the Tourism Coalition of South Dakota. “Our industry has worked hard to build a strong visitor economy, and we need a Governor who understands its impact, values the people behind it, and will continue working with us to protect and grow it.”
The Tourism Coalition of South Dakota believes Governor Larry Rhoden has the experience, understanding, and proven record needed to continue moving South Dakota and its tourism industry forward.
TCSD proudly endorses Governor Larry Rhoden for the Republican nomination for Governor and encourages voters to make their voices heard on or before Tuesday, July 28.

The establishment is pulling hard for a man they spent the primary tearing down. There is no integrity in politics.
So now thousands of South Dakota small businesses are ‘the establishment’ because they didn’t endorse your candidate? That’s certainly one way to redefine reality.
Doeden wants to price us out of the tourist business by putting additional taxes on the industry; so it makes sense that he gets no support from tourism or those businesses associated with it: restaurants, motels, bars, etc. Tourism is huge to our economy. Doeden is not college educated so would not know this.
I think you meant to say he’s not part of the establishment. I listened to this man last night . While everything he says, may not be able to be accomplished. The man is honest with the people. I feel like he is willing to fall on the sword for the state.
Toby is certainly a good salesman, the problem with Toby is, the product he’s selling you is fools gold.
Raising taxes on Trust accounts and Tourism would have disastrous effects on our state’s economy.
Those trust accounts will just move out of state Lose, lose situation
and never come back. This is a problem he will create that we will never be able to correct back to what it was.
Honest with the people? What a load of tripe. I bet you think that paying sticker price for a used car is a bargain too.
I am so glad to see the Visitor Industry endorse Larry Rhoden. I’ve personally attended multiple Rhoden events. and with one or two exceptions, often wondered why visitor industry members weren’t showing up. The Noem-Rhoden administration was huge for tourism.
“Demo here” is exactly right. Trust offices are just that, an office somewhere, with a staff of two or three, but controlling millions of dollars in trust accounts. Add taxes? They move to Sioux City, done and done.
More tax on tourism? Stab the golden goose?
Get rid of property taxes (and close the counties and schools?)
Layers of dumb and undoable. Won’t get through the legislature. Then Toby can say “Hey, my plan worked; I promised major tax cuts and got elected on the promise, and can blame the legislature for killing it.”
Toby Doeden is simply trying to emulate Trump’s “style” while promoting Bernie Sanders’ policies.
