Rep. Phil Jensen lashes out at House leadership, claiming they have “declared war on conservatives.”

From South Dakota Searchlight, State Representative Phil Jensen apparently remains in a state of war with House Leadership after he was removed from House Education Committee over his behavior. According to the story filed today:

Odenbach told members of the media at a leadership press conference Thursday that Jensen and some other members of the House Education Committee planned “an effort to disrupt the committee,” which is “unacceptable behavior.” Republican leaders pulled the members from the room to “deal with the issue out of sight” of the public.

and..

Jensen alleged to South Dakota Searchlight that the Republican legislative leadership has “declared war on conservatives.” He said the new seating arrangement isolated conservative legislators from each other. House Speaker Jon Hansen, R-Dell Rapids, “threw” Jensen and other members of the committee “under the bus” by siding with the chair, Jensen alleged.

“The speaker chose to support an out-of-control chairman who instructed committee members last session to stop talking with each other and forbid them from using their phones to communicate on how they were voting on bills,” Jensen said in an emailed statement, adding that he and some other members were treated “as children.”

I’m sure that’s going to end well for Phil.

Update..

If you think about it, Phil is complaining that the chair told them to stop secret discussions over their phones on how they were voting in committee. Not thinking he is going to win that argument.

  1. Way back when (late 1980s), I was just a cub reporter covering the Kansas Legislature. If I remember correctly, in the Senate, each legislator had a phone at their desk. I don’t think they had them in the House, as everyone sat on a bench with a table, kind of like the House of Commons. (The Kansas House had 125 members, 40 in the Senate.)The phones lit up, but didn’t ring. They were talking to each other all the time on the floor, but quietly. I think they were “Princess” phones, so they didn’t take up as much space. Good times. Good times. Yes, I am old.

  2. I don’t know what we would do in Pierre without our mustached freedom fighter Phil.

    1. I guess a downside of recording Dakota Town Hall on a Wednesday. Is you miss the drama that happens on a Thursday. Jk great show and im a huge fan of it.

  3. You know, Lana Greenfield is not who I think of when I think of an “out of control chair.”

I would think of her like my own grandmother. Very loving but if you get out of line, she might give you a look where you knew you’d better not take it any further. And you absolutely never would consider dropping a “f” bomb around her.

    1. Perfect description of my mom!!! When I was her student, I addressed her as Mrs Greenfield, and all she had to do was give me that look where her eye slightly twitched & I knew I was toeing the line. She’s NEVER “out of control.” She is widely known as one of the best teachers to ever teach in the public school system. I see she still knows how to handle unruly children!! 😄

  4. This whakadoodle is a direct result of the free dummies, the Katie Hoffman circus of the blind, and the crazies out there. When the lunatics run the asylum…This is what you get. The people of South Dakota deserve so much better.

  5. This has been true since the earliest TEA party days – when you’re a butt-hurt SD conservative, all your enemies are just RINOs, regardless of their real party and record of faithful service. Very on-brand, very consistent.

  6. The flaw in Rep Jensen’s argument (well one of them), is that he thinks he gets to define “conservative” in South Dakota. Many of us who toiled in the vineyards of South Dakota GOP for decades before Rep Jensen ever discovered our state have just done just fine recognizing conservative GOP principles. Also, we well recognize the difference between conservative and whackadoodle, and Mr Jensen you are no South Dakota conservative

  7. Well said, Lee. The war on conservatives is what the Phil Jensens of the FreeDumbers are waging. In Phil’s case — the leadership isn’t waging a war on conservatives — they are waging a war on jerks…and Phil needs to lose. I don’t believe Phil wouldn’t know a true conservative if they walked up and slapped him. Sounds like they need to.

    1. General Jeff Marlette is running against him. I am guessing Phil has come to the realization that Marlette is gonna absolutely dog walk him so Phil is gonna try to burn the place down on his way out.

        1. Actual Phil is sooooooo Trump. Refused to step up in defense of his country and looked for deferments.

  8. Perhaps those foil bags that school kids have to put their phones in would be appropriate for the education committee that tries to legislate such things.

  9. Phil is kind of like a yapping dog that finally caught the mailman… only to realize that now the fun part is over and it’s his job to deliver the mail while barking at everyone he delivers to.

Well folks, sounds like someone finally grew tired of their news being covered in drool and teeth marks.

    1. Just goes to show Jensen’s 10 watt bulb. If conservatives ( as he calls his certain group)were not able sit together, then the group he calls Rhinos must not be able to sit by each other either. Duh

  10. Phil, Christians should do their best to not take offense. To “take offense” is to take the Devil’s bait. When you take offense, you destroy your own peace, and your peace is your power.
    Don’t take the bait, Phil.

  11. As I tell my high school students, “When you insist on acting like a fool, don’t be offended when the world treats you as a fool.”
