Rhoden Announcement tomorrow, Sioux Falls Event on Thursday

From my e-mail box, it appears that Larry Rhoden is making his announcement in Rapid City, with a secondary announcement in Sioux Falls on Thursday November 20th:

  1. Governor Rhoden giving the ok for Trump administration taxpayer funded school vouchers for private religious schools will torpedo our public schools. That will weaken South Dakota on many fronts.

      1. You have to understand that South Dakota is a welfare state. Over 20 percent of our education funding comes from the feds. We are 2nd in the nation in funding for public education from the Feds. This money has to come from somewhere and will most likely have an effect on pub ed funding.

    1. You, the taxpayer, can direct your allocated % to a specific school IF you want. If you don’t, it’s status quo.

      1. Let’s see, 83 percent of kids go to Public Schools. With the exception of a few districts, most folks are happy with their kids education in South Dakota. What is gonna happen when Grandparents start giving their $1700/year to their grandkid’s local public schools. There are some unintended consequences coming. This will add to an already growing federal debt.

  2. He’s been campaigning for six months, and I’d guess this announcement will land with a thud. No disrespect, but he just doesn’t have the leadership or base of support to win an election for governor, an embarrassing result for a sitting governor. When you surround yourself with yes men (and women), your ego is going to hear what it desires.

    1. He’s been running the state and being transparent while visiting businesses in the state. Did you expect him to sit in an office 50-80 hours per week? Your last sentence applies to 90+% of all political candidates. I actually feel he’s in the 10% from my observations.

  3. Thank you Governor Rhoden for doing the bidding of Toby Doeden. It is time for people over 65 to retire from our government.

  4. And he’s already fumbled it by confirming to a Keloland reporter that he is running, a day ahead of his announcement event.

Congrats to the Doeden campaign, I guess.
