Rhoden for Governor Unveils “Job Done” Ad

Pierre, SD – Today, the Rhoden for Governor unveiled the “Job Done” ad, which highlights the things that set Governor Larry Rhoden apart in this gubernatorial election. You can find the ad here.

“I’m the only one in this race who’s made a living in ag – raising cattle to help feed the world,” says Governor Larry Rhoden in the ad. “I’m the only one who’s served the nation in uniform – with a family history of service to America. And I’m the only one actually doing the job of Governor – delivering results to keep South Dakota strong, safe, and free.”

Governor Rhoden has run his family’s ranch in Meade County for over 40 years. He served for six years in the South Dakota National Guard and is the first former guardsman since the legendary Joe Foss to serve as Commander in Chief of the South Dakota National Guard.

Rhoden’s great-great-great grandfather came to America with French General Lafayette and fought in the American Revolution to help deliver independence for the United States. His grandfather fought in World War I, including through the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. His father fought in World War II, including in the Battle of the Bulge, and he also helped liberate the infamous Mauthausen concentration camp. His brother fought in the Vietnam War, and his son Cody flew Blackhawk helicopters in the armed forces.

  1. Thank you Governor Rhoden for your service.
Now, it’s time to turn you out to pasture in Union
    Center.
    You praised your old boss.
Nothing you can say will erase the Noem stain
    on you.
You were an integral part of that disgusting shame.
    And you still are.

    1. What did you expect he would do? I don’t hear the other candidates trashing her either so does that mean they like the job she did? She was elected twice so there’s that.
It is interesting to me though that she is letting him twist in the wind financially considering her massive campaign account.
I think the point has been made several times that the votes weren’t there to keep the sales tax rate where it’s at so it would have went up anyway. Better to support other tax relief than more money to spend. The other 2 are nothing more than authorizing an opt-out if the locals want it. Good deal if you believe in local control!

    2. He’s done a fine job of differentiating himself in mannerisms of leading. Policy, he is in lockstep which happens to also be in lockstep with the majority of us conservatives in our state. He’s already separated himself. Hes’ gotten more done in months than many have in years. She made a great choice in her LTG. She left him in the dust though. He’s prevailed without even considering disparaging her amidst all the recent news. That tells me more about his character and actually hers as well.

  2. That’s great as far as a family service to our country but Lt. Gov Rhoden was part of the scandal filled and very expensive Noem administration. Then as interim Governor he raised taxes on poor, working poor, middle class and those on fixed incomes. South Dakotans cannot afford to continue the Noem-Rhoden administration.

    1. I am tired of reading the blatant lies about raising taxes on poor people. No tax that was approved had one thing to do with Governor Rhoden . The legislature approved optional big city one penny temporary tax on a special project if approved by the voters of the cities. The half penny is a tool to help counties with lowering property tax on owner occupied IF the voters of that county approve it. The .3 saving on regular sales tax was due to go away and be 4.5 per cent once again. This fake news is put out by a candidate who constantly has his pictures posted with very high dollar people of big cities, not poor, working people on fixed incomes!

    2. He took/had NO part in what you called scandal filled and most certainly had not part in the expensive part you claim. He’s not an ‘interim’ Governor. He IS the current Governor so that tells me a bit more about who you are especially with the false claim of ‘raised taxes…’ You sound like the guy who wrote and paid for the (false) negative ads.

  3. I’ve heard he’s not much of a ‘rancher’, so there’s that. Nothing will make Rhoden more appealing to me as a Governor, and I was once a supporter! Up until he made rather disparaging comments about two other elected officials.

Again, NO ONE on the Republican ticket thrills me, but I will still vote because I feel compelled to vote. I am a regular voter. I guess I will figure it out June 2!

    1. “I’ve heard he’s not much of a ‘rancher’, so there’s that.”

I’m almost lost for words. What an idiotic comment. Firstly ‘I’ve heard’ and then ‘there’s that’. Tell us you literally know NOTHING without actually telling us you know, well literally NOTHING. Thanks for airing your um… air in your head.

  4. Well, his ads are certainly the best produced of the bunch. I have a feeling he falls into 3rd place, however. You need to have money to really run those ads and he doesn’t. Then there’s Doeden, who seems to have plenty of money but I think will be much like Dr. Boz and not gain much traction. Interesting that Doeden and Johnson campaigns are now attacking Hansen, who also doesn’t seem to have campaign funds. What are the polls showing? Are we looking at a runoff?

    1. Well said.

Can the governor’s ads be the best, while he still ends up in last place? Maybe… but that probably doesn’t happen too often with this many candidates.

And can Dusty top 35% and avoid the runoff? If he has a good ground game… I imagine he can. His campaign is the only one that stopped by my house.

      1. It’s funny you said that. Dusty’s campaign was the only one that stopped by my house also.

        1. Door to door canvassing means very little in the end. However, it is a sign of a strong campaign. Similar to fundraising. Larry can’t raise money for several reasons. First, he was late to the game because he was so indecisive as to running. Second, he doesn’t have the drive to ask everyone. He’s the Gov, the money is there but he was late and he didn’t ask. With little money, there are fewer ads and fewer campaign people to organize door-to-door. Would have been interesting had he picked the LtGov who could raise money instead of the one who chairs committees.

  5. Strong, Safe & Free

Seems like a weird slogan coming off a session of new taxes, a parole violence spree and shutting the doors on businesses that want to build in state.

    1. Lots of bad decisions and indecision by Rhoden.

Big question is whether DJ can get to 35% and whether Toby or others take a swing at him before this is over. Getting to 35% this year might be tough.
