SDEPA Applauds Passing of Compromise Landowner Bill of Rights

PIERRE, S.D. (March 6, 2024) – The South Dakota Ethanol Producers Association applauds the South Dakota Legislature for passing a package of compromise bills that will provide the nation’s first Landowner Bill of Rights along with needed regulatory certainty for CO2 pipelines.

“Thank you to Leader Crabtree and Leader Mortenson for their steadfast determination to make sure this was a good deal for landowners and for businesses looking to create long-lasting economic development in this state. We applaud the South Dakota legislators who supported farmers, landowners, and ethanol with this compromise,” said Walt Wendland, SD Ethanol Producers Association Board President. “This legislation is pro-landowner, pro-business, pro-farmer, and pro-ethanol. It’s a win-win for all South Dakotans.”

Leveraging carbon capture in South Dakota to further decarbonize ethanol provides new market opportunities and adds value to every bushel of corn and every acre of land.

  1. This is all based on the scam of global warming. If global warming were really a problem, the powers that be would gladly give up their private jets and all nations would be limiting their CO2 emissions, neither of which is happening. A point brought up today in the legislature debate was what happens when the government monies run out. Good point!

    1. Whoa, come on, if global warming wasn’t suddenly real, there is no way our republican legislators would be suddenly embracing it. It isn’t like you can just pay them to have an opinion.

  2. Tall grass vs short grass. West River legislators did not support the legislation as much as East River legislators because they don’t understand the value of corn and ethanol on the economy. But they happily take the funding for their airport. I wonder how West River would feel if tax revenues plummet when the price of corn drops to $2. No more airport funding then.

  3. When the CO2 hoax government money and support gives out South Dakota is left with the trash the hoax scattered all over the state. Their solution to CO2 is more of an environmental problem then solution. How much water will be needed to cool down compressors that pressurize CO2 to 2000 pounds? I though we needed to conserve water. I do not think South Dakota is know for abundance of water.
