PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Republican Party announces that Senator Tom Pischke has agreed to step back from his party obligations as Region 1 Director and Minnehaha County State Committeeman in light of pending charges brought against him. This step back is effective immediately and will remain in place until the matter has been resolved.

“Because of the charges that have been brought against Senator Pischke, he has agreed to step back from his party obligations as Region 1 Director and Minnehaha County State Committeeman until this matter has been resolved,” said Jim Eschenbaum, Chairman of the South Dakota Republican Party.

Pretty sure that the Minnehaha County GOP would be the ones to reinstate him. Or not. Since they’re the ones who selected him and all. But whatever.

  1. Now it’s time for him to permanently step back from elected office. He shouldn’t be elected to anything again if found guilty

      1. Jon Hansen isn’t he the one that supports Pischke through thick and thin. Seems like Mr Hansen has some judgement call
issues to work through. He will befriend anyone that supports his political career no matter what.

        1. Hansen only supported Pischke because he could count on his support for his agenda. He will happily throw Pischke under the bus if the move benefits him.

      1. Aside from having to explain it to the kids, I’m guessing the only person taking more pleasure in this story than the DWC is his ex-wife.

    1. Technically, yes. Since he will likely never become a convicted felon, at least on the state level. Don’t know if you remember the whole presumptive probation thing for low level felony charges with people with mostly clean records. But on the other hand, he did use USPS to deliver fraudulent legal instruments. That is far more interesting. Mail fraud. 16 counts potentially. If he did it in other counties besides Minnehaha that could add RICO.

        1. those laws, and bylaws are there. but… If it’s just SD courts, he won’t ever be a felon. He will get presumptive probation. And a suspended imposition. And there is also the possibility of a plea bargain. So bottom line, he stays out of trouble, in a few years it will be off his record and he never has to give up any of his positions. Because he won’t ever be convicted of a felony because of the presumptive probation and suspended imposition parts. So when your going about your day on social media dont be calling him a felon, because he likely wont ever be.

          1. Know the process – even if a person is granted a suspended imposition with, say, a probationary period of 1, or, 2-yrs — during that probationary period of time such persons can be/are known as a felon since they haven’t (yet) successfully completed the probationary timeframe.

    2. He’s won more elections than you ever have or will. Have you tried running for city dog catcher yet. You’d probably lose that election too

      1. How so? He spent like a ton of money on toms campaign a few years ago when he ran. I don’t remember who he ran against last but probably not a guy that would commit election fraud.

          1. Hansen was also a big tom supporter…. Kinda has me thinking the old career politician Jon Hansen isn’t so nice and holy. I mean his judgement is clearly flawed supporting tom all these year …

  2. Where is the statement about the GOP standing for election integrity and not tolerating election related fraud? The Chair attacks conservatives and stands by felons?

  3. First of all, if Bud Brander, Chris and Belinda Nelson, all say they are okay with Pischke sending in forged filings on their behalf because they want to be precinct committee people, I say “too bad, you will not be credentialed for the convention because your filings were fraudulent.”

Debra Elliott is chairing the credentialing committee. Is she going to do her job?

      1. There needs to be a challenge against ANY of those people being credentialed at the convention. The party needs to have zero tolerance for election fraud and irregularities. Minnehaha County will have plenty of other delegates to carry its votes.
If any of the candidates for constitutional office loses a nomination by a handful of votes from Minnehaha County, a lawsui could bankrupt the state party,

        1. One can only hope.

The sooner these lunatics burn the party to the ground, the sooner the party can be rebuilt.

  4. Boot him off the ballot, PLEASE!!!
Jon Hansen can take his place.
Really. Not personally a fan of Hansen but really, who is going to say Hansen’s not conservative enough?
    Nobody.
I predict any public support for Pischke will evaporate if their base realizes this is an opportunity for Hansen.

  5. The Dell Rapids Mudcats amateur baseball team has a colorful past; just ask me about the first round of the 2001 District Baseball Tournament sometime! And I think they still hold the unofficial State Tournament record for most 18-packs of beer drank the night before the State Championship.

Despite all this, I never expected one of them to be brought up on felony election charges. Uff-Dah.

  6. Something definitely needs to be done about Amy Wagner. Is she responsible for the sponsor of Todays coffee break, Justin McNeal, to be calling himself a “Candidate for US Senate?”
He’s not our candidate. The voters made that clear.
