State Representative Tina Mulally claims over $110,000 in unitemized donations to her legislative campaign. And other tall tales to tell you.

I once caught a fish THIS BIG!  I have some great land in Florida to sell you!  And State Representative Tina Mulally collected over $110,000 in unitemized contributions for her State Legislative Campaign.

What’s the difference between all of these tall tales? Call me a cynic, call me from Missouri, but I’ll have to see it to believe any of them.

Read her report for yourself:

Tina Mulally claims over 110k in unitemized donations by Pat Powers on Scribd

$3,851 in individual contributions. $2,500 from PAC’s. And the big one..

Those numbers do not seem to match up in any universe. We’re somehow supposed to believe it when Tina Mulally claims $110,420.00 in individual contributions of $100.00 or less…. which would give her somewhere in the neighborhood of 1100 or more individual donors?

Sorry, but I call bullsh*t on this unsupported and ridiculous claim. And unless we don’t look into the ridiculous and unsupported claims made on campaign finance reports, why do we require campaign finance reports of anyone?

Without further information to prove otherwise, at least on the surface, this looks to be a shameful example of the reforms the legislature needs to start with on campaign finance laws.

    1. It could be a typo, but on her report, it is consistent with her other totals. She reports $104k or so on hand. If it was a type (say she meant $1100), the totals wouldn’t work.

      1. The signature line says that the filing was electronically submitted, which means that Tina used the online fillable form.

The totals are calculated by formulas in the fillable form. Consequently, any mistake in the details will automatically be incorporated into the totals.

No matter what, though, Tina should have previewed her form before submitting it. If she had even glanced at it, that should have jumped out. I do believe it was a typo. But I also believe she didn’t bother to review it before submission. Considering this is an official campaign finance disclosure that she messed up so terribly, that’s not a quality I look for in a legislator.

  1. Our campaign finance disclosures are a joke. New laws are needed. Same for lobbyist reports. They are really weak.

      1. Bwahahahaha! You mean the guy that took twice the amount of acceptable donations from an entity? He only fixed it because he was called out on it. Did he give it back? Was it a typo on his part? Give me a break. Guy can’t count past his fingers and doesn’t understand how anything works. Representative Ismay will be the embarrassment we all know he is.

    1. Hmm, wonder if this is related to your $100,000 donation to your PAC that was then converted to a loan to avoid limits? I guess everyone deal with $100,000 donations now.

  2. What change to the campaign finance laws would fix this?

Either one of three things are true:
1 – She actually raised this amount. In that case, we don’t require disclosure of $100 or less from an individual. Seems like no problem.
2 – She filed a false report, perhaps to mask some large contributions. That’s already a crime. You can’t lie on a report.
3 – She made a mistake. If so she can file an amendment.

I do wonder how this can be true, but I don’t see how it justifies a change to the campaign finance laws.

  3. WTF. I think Tina missed the addition and subtraction day at school. There is no way anyone is that gullible to have donated that much to someone who votes no on everything.

    1. There’s no controls on any of it. Report whatever you want wherever you want. No one checks and won’t do anything about it if you do. The process to even report it is a joke and the sos won’t instigate an investigation even when provided with the facts.

  4. My guess she is funneling money for Jane Fonda, DRA and the Sierra Club opposing RL 21. We will know when we see where that money ends up.

  5. Tina is my Representative. I believe her. She has a great deal of support from Conservative Republicans, myself included.. I gave her less than $100 for her campaign as well as many of my Conservative friends. We trust her to do the job we send her.to Pierre to do. She has never let us down. If only we could trust those in other districts as much as we can Trust Tina, Tony and Greg Blanc!

  6. On its’ face, the $110,000 seems outrageous and a large red flag should be flying in the Secretary of State’s Office. If no investigation is brought, I guess we can be satisfied that corruption is of epidemic proportions in the new Republican Party.

  7. If she doesn’t admit an error and correct her report, she should be asked by Jackleys office to provide evidence.

  8. One nice thing about Ms. Mulally is that she is a really spiffy dresser. She’s a pretty gal who has style and knows how to flaunt it. All the right minded lobbists say so.
