How are people forgetting the last time Brian Bengs ran for US Senate in 2022, when he got his clock cleaned by John Thune for being a goofy tax-and-spend liberal Democrat? Because not much has changed, except he’s kind of skipping over his whole party identification thing this year against Mike Rounds. I was reviewing old material from the last time Brian Bengs ran for the US Senate, and came across this gem from 2021, where Brian Bengs was explaining how we need to blow up the US tax system. By having all states impose income taxes.
From my post in 2021, where Bengs was quoted from his campaign announcement:
His plan would exempt people from federal income tax if they make up to four times the median income. In South Dakota, that’s $124,000. That means, he said, with income verification, no taxes need to be filed, but also no tax refunds.
and..
The goal, he said, is to shift the tax burden to the states, which then create their own systems.
and..
Bengs said one program he would advocate cutting would be federally subsidized flood insurance..
So, Bengs’ plan is that he wants more state taxes? Hmm. If memory serves, who was the last person who advocated for that? That would be Senator Thune’s last opponent, Jay Williams!
“Instead of looking for spending cuts, we must look for ways to increase tax revenue. Look at yourself, if you have property, ask for property taxes to be raised. If you have income, lobby for a state income tax. If you buy lots of things, go for a sales tax.”

Prediction: 80/20 Rounds
seems like the election’s over considering nobody’s campaigning other than Bengs’ You tube ads about how he”ll “fight corruption,” a promise which merits some details for the benefit of voters with brains but satisfies the ones without,
As Trump continues to tank the country, I think there will be more opposition to these “rubber stamp” senators that keep approving what he’s doing. I guess it will come down to if SCOTUS interferes and calls mail in voting cheating or something.
And Rounds is definitely a rubber stamp senator. Maybe it’s time for a change. Even if Rounds wins, I hope the election is close enough to make him realize, some South Dakota voters do not approve of what’s happening in this country by the current administration. Seems like that might be the only thing that wakes him up.
What’s wrong with the country? How is Trump tanking it?
Yes we have crazies on the right believing all sorts of conspiracy theories and crazies on the left who want to exterminate the Jews, kill babies (up to age 6 years now, Post-partum depression being the new Twinkie defense) and sterilize/mutilate gay kids, but things are still pretty nice here.
Except for flying, Flying really sucks now.
I would say flying, sure, repealing regulations and safeguards impacts that, just like they have our food supply.
Other considerations:
1. Tariffs and consumer costs: Trump ran on bringing costs down; now he tells his followers high cost is good, and they flip. No, I’m still on the lower costs to me is good.
2. Debt and Federal Spending: This is out of control; remember when the GOP blocked all of Biden’s stuff due to the cost? Yeah, I still remember, and I don’t think out-of-control spending and starting a war (or whatever you want to call it) in Iran is good.
3. Federal Workforce: Like it or not, we have federal assets and programs started by Congress. The idea of dismantling and pulling funding doesn’t fix anything or promote and improve the asset all Americans own, federal lands. Firing all those people will cost us, and monitoring an asset like fish, is not DEI socialism. Trump used DOGE as an excuse to cut everything he doesn’t like without congress (SCOTUS says the pres can do this now?), so we are in for a treat when the Dems win. What did we get from DOGE? Nothing…..I even sent in tips, but I got an auto response with a typo from DOGE.
4. Rollback of Environmental Policy: Sure, everyone can listen to the podcast bros say how environmental policy is bad, but it turns out nobody wants to drill a new well because the new data center next door is using all the groundwater, oh, and don’t forget you paid incentives for that data center to go there too. I think the talking point sounds better than the actual results. The environment we live in, and the air we breath and water we drink shouldn’t be up for sale for just a few people to gain.
5. International Diplomacy and Alliance: I’m not sure why Canada and Mexico and every country not the USA are now our enemies, but it is as stupid as the “freedom fries” era of the Bush Admin. Isolating ourselves is not a benefit for the country, but I say this as someone who isn’t afraid of immigrants or their culture.
It is kind of scary I have to type these out, like the followers don’t really see how things are not getting better, in fact, they are getting worse? The economic data, even with the BLS no longer being independent, shows negative numbers, Trump says that is good, and his people repeat? Scary times…..
What’s wrong??? We are the most untrusted and hated nation on the planet right now, and Trump just posted five dozen of the most mentally twisted, hideous memes painting himself as a dictator on steroids trying to own the whole solar system. Find something RIGHT in there.

The economy is good, if you discount the whining from the most entitled generation in history who want everything they want to be provided “free” and are mad at their parents for not liquidating retirement accounts to fund wedding extravaganzas (youtube videos full of these)
They want free school lunches, college educations, and universal healthcare.
Then we have the howling about how we are in “forever” war which has been hot for 6 months and most of us women have had pregnancies that were more “forever” than that. And speaking of motherhood, the appalling sympathy for a monster who murdered her children is disturbing
Everyone has some sort of neurodivergence which excuses every form of bad behavior.
What’s wrong with the country is not who is in the White House but a generation which doesn’t want to work for a living, doesn’t want to pay for anything, and doesn’t want any responsibility.
This is a societal problem not a political one

It really is shocking how many people have TDS. Only the terminally infected can think that new endless wars, tarries that cause consumer and gas prices to increase, and punching ranchers when they’re down are good things.

This time around, a lot of people who otherwise would have helped Rounds to an 80-20 win over this guy, are going to vote Blue, which will drive up Bengs’ numbers; yes, still not enough to beat Rounds. This will be closer than Rounds wants it to be though.
