Rumor: Tornberg may have to take on Thune herself?

From South DaCola this afternoon comes a rumor that Ann Tornberg’s name has come up as potentially being the Dem’s answer to otherwise giving John Thune a historic 2nd Bye:

Over lunch, the rumor mill gets a going. The latest is that Ann Tornberg (or a close relative) are going to put their hat in the ring to run against Thune.

Read that here

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA…. (continue laughing for a few minutes)…

What that tells us is that, despite promises, Ann Tornberg can not find anyone to run for the office. So, in order to fulfill her own boast that there will be an opponent, she may get stuck with it herself.  Of course, that raises the question of how much of party resources she’s going to divert from real candidates to accomplish it?

But still, that’s pretty darned funny.

What the hell does “or a close relative” mean? Is she so inept as a Party chair that rather than recruit a candidate she is forced to beg her husband or brother to do it?

I am watching a great disaster ‘movie’ playing in Pierre each weekday. It’s hilarious! I have plenty of carrots to munch on, not popcorn. I chose the healthier route.

The “close relative” thing is really damning. Ann doing it herself is at least sort of credible. She is party chair after all. But a close relative? Yikes.

Why don’t they get a term-limited legislator to do it? Susan Wismer fell on the sword and ran against Daugaard. Someone like that could take on Thune. Heck- maybe Wismer would like another stab at it.

Geez, I hope they find somebody…. It’s much harder for Thune to raise money for future use if he doesn’t have an opponent…even a make-believe one.
