State Government According to Hubbel: They’re all in on it. Whatever “it” is.

In case buying a domain name and pointing it to my columns about her wasn’t enough, I’ll probably make Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Lora Hubbel mad again when I point out that she’s not exactly inspiring the masses by claiming crazy stuff like this:

Can someone enlighten me? It’s pretty easy to say “They’re all in on it.”  But lacking any proof or substance, it’s a lot tougher to describe exactly what “it” is.

When Lora claims Sutton “gets the perks from GOED like any other corrupt establishment politician,” exactly what “perks from GOED” is Hubbel talking about? Did someone get a bag of those little plastic pins from tourism to pass out at an event, and she didn’t?

Exactly. It’s a load of made up crazy talk.

She can’t describe it. She can’t provide proof of it. But it’s happening. And she knows it! And we can expect to hear more of this kind of drivel over the course of a long election. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Lora has had unsubstantiated pronouncements like this, and it’s probably among the mildest.

Two years ago, when State Senator Deb Peters handed Hubbel her hat and beat her in the last election she was in, Lora was all over the media with statements claiming that “8 shotgun deaths emanated from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

Was she claiming that a GOED shotgun death squad is roaming the countryside? Well....  Again, a shockingly bizarre claim, but true to form, Lora provided no substantive proof to back it up. I’m not sure what you do with this kind of garbage.

I’ve described it before as a candidate trying to say they’ll “govern by Facebook.” It’s giving the bizarre credence just because someone read a facebook post about it, no matter how ludicrous or unsubstantiated it is.

A quality we would want in our State’s chief executive? Absolutely not.

I bought a domain, and someone must be complaining. And I’m not paying $795 for lorahubbel.com

Here’s a silly one. Some liberal dems were all a flutter in a comment section of another website the other day because they noticed I bought an unused domain as I’ve done before.  And the next thing I’m hearing is Dana Ferguson from the Argus is actually asking people about it, and sending me e-mails asking how many domains I own.

What’s got them all addled? I added billiesutton.com to a small group of them I have, such as lorahubbelforgovernor.com and dakotareporter.com which was abandoned after Lee Stranahan left town.  (I keep looking at lorahubbel.com, but I’m not paying $795 for it. Last year, it was nearly $3000, but even at $795, it is still a high dollar web property. If it gets much over $10 or 12, It’s too rich for my blood.)

Running a South Dakota based news website which covers politics, every once in a while I sometimes buy domains that are unused or abandoned that I think I might be able to use for SEO purposes when they’re related to topics I write extensively about.  So $10 later, I did.  And that’s MSM newsworthy? Meh.

We’ll have to wait for it to appear to see if it’s benign or a hit piece. Not sure if someone is complaining directly, or it’s a reeaaallly slow news day. I guess we’ll find out.

Minor #TBT..  I was reminded of the time I bought sibbyonline.com, which I auctioned off to raise money for a charity donation, raising $500 in the process. And the buyer told me to give the domain to Steve, in the spirit of fun and camaraderie.   Good times.

*Update*Yep. As expected, came off as a hit piece.  And they didn’t even bother to mention SDWC’s URL, despite the story being about it.

Nelson claiming ‘many’ asking him to run for Governor, Congress, despite limited path forward.

In his usual thin-skinned manner, State Senator Stace Nelson took to Facebook yesterday to attack an unnamed blogger (me, I’m assuming) as a RINO because I had offered the following notes from the field about the possibility of him getting into a statewide race in 2018:

Insiders don’t expect State Sen. Stace Nelson, who placed third in the 2014 US Senate primary, to jump in a major statewide race in 2018. I’ve had people cite both health and lack of funds as reasons he’d likely stay out, although as recently as this past legislative session, it was noted to me that he was trying to talk people into it.

If Nelson would decide to run for statewide office this cycle, as an underperformer in 2014 at the statewide primary level, his only realistic path may be in a Constitutional office where the GOP Nominees are chosen at convention. At convention, the delegates tend to be more conservative, and may accept him as a nominee. Generally, the path after that is easy, as Democrats provide only nominal opposition, if any at all.

Read that here.

That report triggered Nelson to take to social media to make the following attack/statement:

While the first paragraph is typical Nelson boilerplate rhetoric which he rolls out the derisive term ‘RINO’ as others would use ‘and’ or ‘the’ in a sentence, the second makes a claim that ‘many’ have asked him to get into either the Gubernatorial or Congressional contests.

That claim seems dubious, however, as neither offer a realistic path forward for the candidate who prefers a style of campaigning that relies on bombast and attacks that some consider unfair and dirty politics.

In the Gubernatorial contest, normally aligned Lora Hubbel and Stace Nelson have had a rift develop with some citing her entrance into the race as causing friction between the normally allied pair, as they would be splitting the same universe of conservative voters were Nelson to enter the race. With Hubbel in the race, there is simply no room for Nelson.

In the Congressional race, Nelson’s typical campaign braggadocio would run up against the reality of his previously mentioned inability to raise the level of funds necessary to conduct a statewide race. A deficiency that would likely hobble him to a third or fourth place finish.

Why? It’s just basic math & history. By the time of the 2014 US Senate primary, Nelson raised an anemic total of 131k aggregate total across the entire duration of the primary, a figure that his likely opponents, Shantel Krebs and Dusty Johnson, have been raising quarterly.

While Nelson might give a top office bid in 2018 lip service for his loyal Facebook friends, the reality of the situation is that even were he to make the leap, a realistic path forward for either race does not seem to exist in this reality.

The Mid May 2017 Edition of the GOP’s roster of who’s running for what!

It’s been about 45 days since we last visited things, and while there haven’t been a lot of changes, we’ve solidified up some things.

The statewide races for Governor and Congress seem to be stabilizing, although, there’s a little time left for people to jump in. Mainstream GOP candidates Marty Jackley ad Kristi Noem are campaigning hard across the state, while fringe candidates ‘Dr’ Terry Lee LaFleur and Lora Hubbel are relying on gimmicks and social media, eschewing most GOP events.

Neal Tapio indicated he’s most definitely planning to run for Congress, joining the field currently held by former PUC Commissioner and Governor’s Chief of Staff Dusty Johnson, and Secretary of State Shantel Krebs. Dusty and Shantel are devoting most of their campaigning to the GOP Lincoln Day Dinner Circuit, with Dusty having a campaign kickoff today across the state in 3 cities.

Who might join either of those marquee races? There’s still lots of room to jump in the water, but I would look to Congress being the more accessible.

Larry Rhoden who defeated Nelson to place second in that same 2014 Senate race seems to be sitting quietly so far this cycle, although many see him as a genuine contender in the future or quite possibly as someone who might be tapped as a Lt. Governor candidate.   Depending on who wins the GOP nomination for Governor, that could be a genuine possibility for the affable State Representative.

And what about Senate President Pro Tempore Brock Greenfield? I’ve had people note to me that they could see him jumping into a Constitutional office race and doing well. The question would be “which of his contemporaries would he challenge?” We’ve got a pretty good field right now, so making the case why any of them should not go to Pierre might be the biggest hurdle for any contender.

We’re within days of starting a 12 month countdown to the June Primary Election of 2018, when things will really start to get crazy. Hold on to your seats!

Lora Hubbel’s prohibitionist and anti-sorcery platform planks for the 2018 Gubernatorial race.

Dammit. Why did I look?  I didn’t want to, but I did anyway.

I saw this Facebook post by GOP/Indy/Constitution Party (or whatever it is this year) gubernatorial hopeful Lora Hubbel, and in typical Lora fashion, it was off the wall and not what you typically find posted from anyone running for office:

I should have known better when I saw that Lora actually decided to lecture her followers about how “all you who take prescription drugs are into “sorcery.

Damn you practitioners of modern western medicine.

But that still left the problem of the link that she posted. I kept looking at it not unlike Brad Pitt in “Se7en,” demanding to know “what’s in the box!?!”  I didn’t want to see, but I felt compelled to look, like when people slow down when they drive by a fire or bad traffic accident.

So I opened the box.  And what does Lora’s link about Alcohol consumption and spirit possession lead you to? What rabbit hole of crazy is this Gubernatorial hopeful trying to lead us down now?

I’m sorry I asked:

In the words of writer and health enthusiast, Jason Christoff –  “In alchemy, alcohol is used to extract the soul essence of an entity. Hence its’ use in extracting essences for essential oils, and the sterilization of medical instruments. By consuming alcohol into the body, it in effect extracts the very essence of the soul, allowing the body to be more susceptible to neighboring entities most of which are of low frequencies (why do you think we call certain alcoholic beverages “SPIRITS?”).

and…

Our bodies are cars for spirits. If one leaves, another can take the car for a ride. Essentially when someone goes dark after drinking alcohol or polluting themselves in many other ways, their body often becomes possessed by another entity.”

I became aware of this phenomenon years ago when I was given a spiritual vision. In this vision, I was transported as an observer above a popular bar and nightclub. Above the venue where a variety of ghoul-like entities. Inside the bar were people drinking alcohol, socializing, dancing, and so on. I watched as certain people became very drunk. I saw their souls, while connected through a thread, exited the body. I understood that the soul was leaving the body because of the great discomfort of being in a body highly intoxicated with alcohol. When the soul exited the body, other non-benevolent entities entered or latched on to their vacant shells. Once the entities took hold of the body, they used the body to play out all kinds of dark acts, such as violence, low-level sexual encounters, destructive behaviors, rape, and more.

Read that here.

Apparently Gubernatorial hopeful Lora Hubbel is promoting a viewpoint that if we drink, we may be possessed by demons, because our souls will leave our bodies. Because of course, that’s why they call them “Spirits.”

Is the 2018 election over yet?

GOP Gubernatorial hopeful Hubbel attacks Sioux Falls first responders in building collapse because chief arrested.

I don’t think Lora Hubbel’s propensity to vent on facebook did her any good last night.

In comments on facebook and under the KELO article on accused Sioux Falls Fire Chief who was arrested for possession of child pornography, Hubbel managed to somehow turn the arrest into accusing all of Sioux Falls Fire & Rescue of incompetence because – as she directly stated – “the downtown building collapse could have been better executed had he spent more time learning search and rescue technique rather then spending so much time on kiddie porn.

Wow.

If you want to watch this cringe-worthy train wreck as it continues to roll out, you can do so here at KELOland.com.

Apparently Mike Myers (Yes, that Mike Myers) has died.

There’s an obituary up via Rude’s Funeral Home here in Brookings (there must be local family), for Mike Myers, the Independent candidate who ran in the last gubernatorial election as well as a District 15 State House race, also as an independent.

Myers left the state in the middle of the 2016 election, which gives rise to questions as to his health at the time he ran, especially given his passing shortly thereafter.

Not to mention his participation in the Lora Hubbel suicide re-enactments when he was running for Governor, at the time the above picture was taken.

All you can hope for is – as nutty as it sounds – that he was of sound mind at the time and a willing participant, and not someone who was being exploited.

Lora Hubbel For Governor website up.

It looks like the Hubblecraft has launched, as a campaign website for Lora Hubbel for Governor has been put up.

Gordon Howie’s website is noting this morning that his gal Lora’s website is up, and she’s also posted a video manifesto talking about why she’s launching her effort.  From her website, Lora explains why she’s running at LoraHubbel.org..

…and she can’t even get that right.  Hubbel claims that “In 2014 Lora was the first woman to ever run for Governor in South Dakota.” It might be true on “Planet Lora,” but in the South Dakota that the rest of us reside in, there were several who went before.  That honor belongs to Gladys Pyle, Alice Kundert, as well as others.

But, this is also the candidate who talked about Israel bombing Auschwitz, so concepts such as knowledge and historic accuracy might not be her strong suit.

In her effort for Governor, Hubbel also posted a video statement of why she’s running, aimed about 3 feet above her head, where she talks about corruption, moving bodies, and why deputy coroners can’t do the job of coroners…

I’m just stopping there. There’s too much bizarro world here for a sunny Easter morning.

Ever have a time when you hope for mutually assured destruction? GOP’s Extreme Right degrades into Facebook slapping fight.

While I am enjoying myself at a leisurely vacation, in the last hour or so I’ve had four or five people text me and asked me if I’d been watching possible GOP gubernatorial contenders Lora Hubbel and Stace Nelson assault other on Facebook?

Since I’ve been spending my time on more important pursuits, such as….  OK, let’s not kid ourselves, I could be clipping my toenails and it would be more important than these two, but I went and pulled it from Facebook for your reading enjoyment:

Of course, it didn’t end there…

And people wonder why I state with confidence that some people who run as Republicans are incapable of winning elections.

Not sure what more I can add about it…

Aberdeen American News featured at Newseum this Morning

I’m here at the Newseum this morning, and if you’re ever in the area, it’s worth the price of admission, if just for the view:

Great exhibits on topics such as Media Bias…

Uh oh! Here’s a headline that Gubernatorial Candidiate Lora Hubbel won’t like (from 1955):

And a notation about how news has shifted to citizen journalists, such as moi:

Your ticket gets you in for two days admission, and it was a great place to spend a morning. Check it out next time you’re in DC.
