Former censured legislator, Julie Frye-Mueller files to re-run 2024 Senate race she lost. For God’s sake, go support Amber Hulse.

She’s baack…

Today, the former State Senator of so many negative stories, not the least of which is her censure over the borderline sexual harassment of a LRC employee which earned her a censure by the South Dakota State Legislature, has filed paperwork to run for the Senate again.

Which means only one thing – go to Senator Amber Hulse’s website and send her a donation. Right now.

I spoke with one Senator who served during the Frye-Mueller years, and within minutes of JFM filing, he fired off a donation of $1000 to Amber’s campaign. I’m guessing they won’t be the only one in that situation.

Is Amber perfect? No. No one is. She’s made votes I haven’t agreed with. I think there was one I yelled at the computer over. But, at the end of the day, I don’t fault her for that. She’s responsible to her constituents, and answers to them, not me. Amber provides representation that is an improvement by leaps and bounds beyond the embarrassing circus show that Julie Frye-Awful treated South Dakota to. And it’s actual representation. Not shoot-from-the-lip nuttery as we had before.

So get the checkbook out and fire up your venmo. Because South Dakota is calling you in our time of need.

Say yes to Amber. And just say no to one of the worst legislators to ever step foot in the State Capitol.

  1. Hulse is useless and only cares how a vote affects her future aspirations. At least JFM is a known ineffective where you know where she stands. Hulse will say she’s voting one way and then turn around and do the exact opposite.

      1. Hulse is very engaged and informed on issues, which evidently bothers some of you. JFM is more like “a star is what I are,” mercurial and combative for no good reason.

  2. Learning this just now made me physically ill. I’m with Pat. Some of Amber’s votes are a bit perplexing. Yet, she is far and away a better legislator and better person than JFM could ever aspire to be. District 30 voters shouldn’t have much difficulty here. However, they did elect JFM I think twice before so…..

  3. Most of the fellows grudznick knows are from the District numbered 30, and by golly there is not a one who backs Ms. Frye-Mueller. Ms. Frye-Mueller is very much a dim witted individual who walks around parroting what her hubby is whispering in her ear.

The one thing Ms. Frye-Mueller has on Ms. Hulse is a little bit of humility. Maybe that’s an age and life inexperience thing, but if Ms. Hulse could just grow a little humility she’d win 90-10.

    1. If Ms. Hulse does not come off a little less narcissistic, she will still win 52-48.
Unless those insaner than most really roust out the vote. Then, the Conservatives with Common Sense, who are working on getting a breakfasting visit from both candidates, will be the deciders.

        1. grudznick’s good friend Bob, from whom I rarely hear these days as he is on a bit of a sabbatical, would be a fine candidate indeed. He’s a LIbertarian, so he won’t have a primary.

      1. Don’t think that’s possible. I’m with JFM. She’s awful but you know what you are getting. A Frye-Mueller is only in it for herself and her personal advancement.

        1. grudznick read your blogging, Mr. Anon, as “A Hulse is only in it for herownself and glory.” Is that what you meant? You had typos.

    1. Whether your situation results in good publicity or bad, you have to milk it for all it’s worth.

    1. Oh, I think the LRC have already shown their support and endorsement of JFM–and Mr. Mueller. In the cover letter on the Muellers’ transaction tax proposal, there were NO suggestions made as to the style and form of the language.

Really? Who knew the advocates were such experts in tax law?

Any good bill drafter will always tweak language. To not suggest so much as the change of an “a” to a “the” suggests the proposal was pre-drafted under one of two arrangements. Either: A) the language was pre-drafted with the assistance of another legislator; or B) JFM went directly to a certain member of the LRC to draft the proposal.

  4. If those are the best two to come forward clearly the SDGOP stopped caring about quality control.

  5. Maybe California Carley talked her into running so he won’t be the worst sitting senator, well a tie anyway.

  6. There isn’t a win here. JFM is absolutely awful but predictable. Hulse only votes with future aspirations in mind. She doesn’t represent her constituents, only herself. Don’t give a dime to either of them.

    1. It would be nice of the Dems would have a good candidate here. Both are terrible but would have to agree on JFM here. Again, this reflects poorly on the health on South Dakota’s political system when the majority party has done everything it can to severely limit and destroy what is supposed to be the main opposition party.

  7. I hate that people are being forced to choose between a self-serving opportunist and a lunatic.

  8. If JFM had apologized for the incident with the staffer, she would still be in the state senate. Constituents liked her conservative voting record, but they grew tired of her antics, and she won’t be elected again.

    1. Everyone thinks they’re Donald Trump when their main voters are MAGA. I.E. they can be crazy and still win.
Ehhh not so much. Go Amber!

      1. You know she worked for Trump right? She’s just as crazy as JFM, just with a degree and better photoshop

        1. Every Republican in this state works for Trump, whether they know it or not. Anyone who thinks Republican Party politics will cause any improvement in their own life, is a complete fool. Trump and his cronies are looting the place. All of their whipsaw contrary political moves are diversion and smokescreen.
