From Facebook, it appears that a Mark Nelson from Philip, SD is challenging Senator Jim Mehlhaff for the District 24 Senate seat in the June primary.
By his announcement, I’m guessing he’s not going to leave his religion in church.
We’ll just leave it at that.

Hey, awesome! Good for Mark.
I worked with Mark, and I can confirm that while not a perfect person he strives humbly to understand and apply the teachings of Christ into the laws we codify that we might create a more peaceful and prosperous society in keeping with our founding principles, many of which even predate the time of Christ (in both the spirit of the teachings and in the history of our most deeply held ideals).
If Mark wins, I hope the people of his county are ready to reach out and work in good faith.
Like wise I hope that’s reciprocated by Mark’s people should another outcome occur.
Ride ’em cowboy!
Yip! Yip!
Mr. Dale, your god drowned in a bowl of cereal. We need no more overgodders in the legislatures.
You are a true bigot.
John are you a Warlock?
How is that supposed to work for the Jews and Buddhists?
I took a quick scroll through his Facebook. No thanks.
Is he a whacko on the level of Hansen, Lems, Odenbach, Schaefbauer and the other cultists?
Christians aren’t supposed to leave their religion in church. Just sayin’
Religion is for those afraid of hell. Spirituality is for those who’ve been there. I don’t think you’ve even been close to hell with your quip about religion.
Anyone whose religion is confined to the four walls of a building has no genuine faith. Certainly, no Christian can claim to follow Christ and not feel motivated to live out their faith in all areas of their life.
“Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s”
Sounds like a separation to me.
Then you don’t understand scripture.
Then surely those Christians who are elected will pass legislation that will make sure no child goes hungry at school, ensures the poor have access to healthcare and a roof over their head, and that the rich equitably split their wealth with those around them.
Perhaps. The point is that elected officials should be guided by their faith. If not, their faith is meaningless window dressing.
And by the looks of things, most of their faith is indeed absolutely worthless.
What an ignorant and bigoted thing to say.
What’s the matter, upset that our modern Pharisees are getting called out for their two-faced lying malarkey?
Bothered by how gleeful so many of you seem to be.
There’s a growing anti-Christian sentiment amongst many Republican political officials here in South Dakota. Our elected officials feel increasingly comfortable mocking the faith of those they disagree with politically.
Are you questioning our faith? (Ripping our shirts off ready to fight like PC Principal.)
Your maturity.
No! It is the fake Christianity with weaponizing faith for power and use it for acts of cruelty towards others. Many of those who make sure everyone knows they are Christian often act the most Un-Christ like. Others profit from it too.
SouthPark should add this Mark fella, our legislature and other wacky candidates in the state to it’s next episode. Will Vance (Tatu) and Peter Thiel stop the birth of Trump and Satan’s child being the Anti-Christ?
I’m trying to find the least bigoted comment in the original post and all the comments. But, I can’t discern any noticeable difference.
Maybe because there’s a plank of wood in your eye.
I’m intrigued by the fact that those who least understand the Bible are those who are most likely to quote it.
It’s even more intriguing that those who most loudly claim to follow Christ are those that are the farthest from his teachings.
