Rep. Dylan Jordan anti-development resolution goes down in House.

While I was watching Senator Mykala Voita’s state-sponsored “Ramadan in July” resolution pass the Senate (22-11), at least one of the chambers had some sense today.

State Representative Dylan “DJ Jazzy” Jordan’s anti-development resolution – HCR 6007 – which tried to send a signal that we don’t like jobs and development in South Dakota – was shot down on a vote of 29-37. On nearly a straight-line pro-jobs economic development versus the anti-development group in the chamber.   (Rep. Goodwin – what are you doing? You’re killing me.)

This marks the third Rep. Jordan measure to go down in flames. 3 4 down, 3 2 remaining to be heard (maybe less.. I didn’t catch what happened to HB 1071 in House Transportation this AM.  *Correction. 1071 was killed 9-1)

      1. I asked my 5th grade public education daughter to read the resolution. I am not trying to be mean here but I don’t think Dylan can read at the 5th grade level. How does one like himself find their way to a House Education Committee that is responsible for the future of our children? I also listened to his “no boat” license bill this morning. It was riddle with problems. It would ultimately find non-boat owners and ultimately property tax owners paying for upkeep of public boat landings and facilities while boat owners would enjoy that luxury of there’s for free. His caucus is absolutely failing him by not providing some professional development and advice. I also found it hubris that during his opening remarks he indicated that the opponents would all be paid lobbyist. Immediately 2 gentlemen who were boat owners and opponents, who could have been my grandfathers, got up and spoke and indicated they were there for free and boat license are a small price to pay to ensure ample launching facilities and parking areas at public waters.

        1. You can thank anti-SD candidate Jon Hansen for putting these wackadoodles on these committees.

  1. Four down, two to go. He withdrew 1070. Lost HB1069 9-1 and lost HB1071 by the same vote. Today’s HCR was his fourth effort, which he lost 29-37.

Last year he lost all six of his bills in committee.

    1. Don’t forget Ismays, (let’s recall commissioners cuz we don’t like the way they vote) bill 1004 also lost its reconsideration bid. The crazies are livid about that! I’d like to see a bill allowing the recall of legislators by petition….if it’s good for commissioners it’s good for legislators.
