  1. I have never seen an incumbent run a more reactive campaign. Dusty is driving the narrative and Larry reacts.

    1. They are afraid of Dusty. Dusty made it through two debates without any criticism. Amazing.

Doeden and Rhoden wiffed and let Hansen emerge.

    2. That’s because Rhoden is running on his record. It’s unlike him to go negative first. Dusty did that which then puts Rhoden in a reactive mode. The ad came out pretty darn fast so one would guess they had it in their hip pocket because DC Dusty will do anything to get elected including dirty play. I remember another candidate that came back from DC and went down and dirty which was not impressive. Politics definitely suck at times.

Rhoden’s response ad is spot on for SD. Not too light and not too harsh. Probably should have been harsher but most people don’t like the negativity. It’s a crap shoot.

  2. Rhoden wasted the legislative session. He could have used it as an opportunity to champion policy that would excite primary voters. Instead, his signature accomplishment was a property tax bill most republicans dislike.

    1. If he doesn’t win his biggest mistake will be picking the wrong Lt. Governor.

Had he picked Hansen or someone similar he would have had the base and one less opponent. He chose not to consolidate the voters.

Had he picked Russ Olson he would be raising money for him.

Had he picked Tenhaken, he would have had SF name ID and put his name all over the signs in SF.

    2. I’ve never heard so many legislators say what a productive session they had. I’ve heard many say that in the last two years AND attribute it to Rhoden. He was heads down doing his job. Most all will like that bill come January. Hopefully, they don’t have regrets from believing untruths about it because they don’t understand it.

      1. Rhoden is a legislator’s executive. His great strength is principled pragmatism. He understands how to accomplish consensus. He understands legislators and how to work with them. But, he doesn’t understand voters.

      2. Considering the clown show the Legislature’s been the past few years, that’s setting the bar pretty low.

        1. That’s where we differ. Had someone else been at the healm, it could’ve been awful with very little legislation passed. Possibly two entire years could’ve been a complete waste of time and money on our dime. And who would they blame? The Governor. He’d get the blast and since it didn’t turn out that way, he should get the praise. Everyone who was paying attention expected a complete sh!t show. And it wasn’t. That wasn’t by accident. Give credit where credit is due.

          1. The normal reasonable legislators are who you need to credit. They prevented terrible bills from being passed. They were also able to get a few things done. Larry’s administration sat on their butts letting everyone else do the work. The only time they engaged was if it was for a political move to get the establishment business community to like him. It didn’t work.

    3. Wasted the legislative session? You must not know what is supposed to happen there. What he accomplished was unbelievably successful. Largest tax cut in state history, just did the ground breaking for a prison that former governors kicked down the road for decades, and had the largest economic development project in SD history, followed by the 2nd largest project, and accomplished every goal he laid out at the beginning of session. Republican home owners are going to love it in 2027 when it takes affect. He’s all action, not just talk.

      in history.

      1. He better be happy with that record, because if he isn’t reelected it’s the last time he’ll have any say in public policy making.

    1. grudznick thinks the Dustoids and Doedenites are jerking overreactively in a single drove. This seems like a pretty swell web page.

    2. Have you seen Dusty’s (possibly Doeden’s) attack ad? The people who put those type of ads out are the ones who are feeling threatened. That’s why they spend piles of money on them. They don’t seem too concerned with Hansen or Doeden (unless it is from Doeden still thinking he can get 2nd). If they were they’d be spending their money attacking them.

  3. I wonder if the inflated numbers from the Operation Prairie Thunder will be included?

  4. The attack ad is going to come down to Doden. The crazies in the Black Hills are behind the PAC. These are the people who originated the attack post cards à la Russell and the Latenslauger family.

    1. The attack ad is Dusty’s. He is has been harping about the taxing. Doeden shouldn’t take the blamed for Dusty’s dirt. He is such a joke….which posts may have pointed out, but good old Dusty scrubs the comments out. No one I have talked to is voting for Dusty. Do another poll!

      1. If you are running 3rd/4th (Hansen/Dummy) you take out number 2 Rhoden. Dummy wont catch Dusty unless you are in the primary.

        1. Dusty’s interviews make it clear he’s behind the ad. He very carefully denies that his campaign didn’t run the ad, while never addressing whether he knew about the campaign in advance and if the ad was developed by people seeking to aid his campaign. Dusty is dirty.

  5. Oh yeah. The lack of a second website was definitely the issue. It’s like the Rhoden campaign is run by people who have never run for anything ever. Astounding really.

    1. That’s because his campaign IS being run by someone who has no experience running a campaign, much less a statewide campaign. Ian Fury is way out of his depth.

      1. yes, posting a website in 2026 is laughable. But they have no money to tell their story, so they resort to inexpensive websites and press releases. They aren’t going to like the fact that nobody goes to their new web page.

  6. Lost our vote when he took considerable funding away from education and housing & sent it to airports!!!

    1. He didn’t take funding away from education. The voters did that when they voted to expand Medicaid. This is the first year ever that we’ve had to spend more on Medicaid than on Education. If you can see the forest through the trees, upgrading the airports to allow more people to travel to and from South Dakota will bring more dollars to South Dakota so we can have more money for teachers, social workers, and such. That takes some foresight to recognize that. What has really killed us is raising the minimum wage, for obvious reasons.

  7. He also needs to stop embracing Noem; one of the most corrupt and feckless governors in the history of South Dakota.

  8. Get ready for another round of attack ads from Dusty, but this time much larger. He’ll deny it again. If South Dakota doesn’t want DC corruption in our state, you’d better pray these ads claiming one of the most conservative statesmen who has darkened the halls of our Capitol backfire on him. There are plenty of legislators who will see these and know they are not true about Larry as a tax & spend. Do we really want a rich, DC politician using tactics like this as our next governor?

    1. Stop whining and run a better campaign. Larry’s team is failing him. It’s obvious to everyone but him.

    2. Those who trust Dusty are misled. What is his leadership looking like? Grabbing on to ideas already in place or being already worked on. acts like he and Trump are buddies. Border Wall…against, then for. Jan. 6…against Trump there. . Is he transparent? Look at all of the pictures of him on FB and the number of comments made on each. The people cannot see any of those comments because they have ALL been scrubbed off . Yup, there is your leadership if Dusty is elected. Does he ever once admit Noem is behind the scene. No. But let’s all deflect and talk about Larry, Hansen, Ian, Pischke…I would rather support a man of the people myself. That is not Dusty.

      1. Dusty is a bad politician, but a good candidate Unfortunately, Rhoden is a bad candidate with poor electoral instincts.
