Rounds: I’m Disgusted by Planned Parenthood’s Actions

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement after a second video has surfaced of a Planned Parenthood executive discussing the organization’s operation of selling body parts of aborted children.

“I’m disgusted at Planned Parenthood’s disregard for the sanctity of human life. This is further proof that the organization should not be receiving taxpayer dollars. I support a full and thorough investigation of this appalling situation.”

  1. Often when your knee jerks like that you get a bloody nose, Senator.
Q: How much of Planned Parenthood’s services are dedicated to abortions? Does the federal government fund those procedures?
A: Abortions represent 3 percent of total services provided by Planned Parenthood, and roughly 10 percent of its clients received an abortion. The group does receive federal funding, but the money cannot be used for abortions by law.

    1. So Planned Parenthood receives federal funding, that you admit, but you say it doesn’t go for abortions. Horse pucky! if it doesn’t specifically pay for an abortion, the federal funding frees up other PP money to be used for abortions. One organization, one pocket of funds.

“Claims that taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood results in fewer abortions are false. From 2000 to 2009, Planned Parenthood saw an 80 percent increase in taxpayer funding, receiving $202 million in 2000 and $363 million in 2009. In 2000, Planned Parenthood performed 197,070 abortions while making 2,486 adoption referrals. In 2009, they performed 332,278 abortions and made just 977 adoption referrals. That means an 80 percent increase in taxpayer funding resulted in a 69 percent increase in the number of abortions and a 61 percent decrease in the number of adoption referrals.[vii]”

“And, According to its latest annual report, it has nearly one billion dollars in net assets.[ii] Data shows that over the last nine years, Planned Parenthood has taken in over $500 million in profits.[iii]”

Lots of other juice info on this site, that I am sure Porter will deny.

      1. “Kind of sexist of you to believe all women support abortion”– He didn’t say that. All women have the constitutional right to abortion until 20th or 22nd week—period..

Now I suppose you’re gonna claim I said all women should have abortions?

  2. I’m off to the Rockies vs Rangers game and won’t be here to discuss but let me start the ball rolling.
Rep. Schoenbeck: What percentage of your constituents are women? I know you’ll have to look it up because you clearly don’t care about their rights as set forth in our U.S. Constitution. Women’s rights and laws that pertain to abortion are guaranteed to be upheld by our Constitution. Representative ….. which is more important to you? Your opinion of the laws or your duty to uphold the laws? (tbc) PS: What say you about the mega-dairy potential pollution factory now on hold near Waverly?

    1. Porter you and I both know Dairy runoff pales in comparison to the runoff from tar and concrete. Ever test the salt in well water pulled from wells along a Northern US Interstate? How about that “allowable human fecal matter” in our waterways? Chlorine is a scientifically known catalyst to cholesterol binding to blood vessels and nobody is crying about that scourge either. But cow poop is the culprit to all our urban enviro sins huh?

  3. Kind of sexist of you to believe all women support abortion – actually, extremely sexist and statistically false

Ps if you do Real Bad things to children, you don’t get credit for saying you don’t do it all the time!

      1. Many women believe they don’t have a right to murder their unborn children. No matter what a few DC lawyers have said.

        1. What are you talking about? Nobody says a woman shouldn’t have a choice except the faux-lifers.

      2. Just where in the Constitution does it specifically state that? Answer – it doesn’t, period.

            1. You are serious? You haven’t a clue what that is from? If not from a faux-life conservative it would be unbelievable that one could be so ignorant of the topic they comment on.

  4. Thank you Senators. Since abortion is a protected constitutional right, abortion clinics are probably not inspected like other hospitals and clinics. The sale of fetal body parts probab;y been going on from the beginning at most clinics.

    1. The use of fetal tissue for research is legal. Are you suggesting a black market for fetal “body parts”? Really? Why?
