The deadline to turn in your ballot in person was yesterday at 5pm.. and it was surprisingly slim pickings. Which may mean that we’re looking at more coming in the mail over the next few days. With the problems with the US Postal service delays, it might be the start of next week until they end. But I’m sure we’ll see more coming.
Word is Dems have their statewides in. So now it’s a waiting game.
But, there is some early and interesting talk about candidates who are NOT on the ballot already.

Seth Phillips, who was running despite having been arrested for DUI says that after “honest conversations,” he’s taking a pass on running for D5 House.
Brookings to Mitchell transplant and State Representative Kaley Nolz has also decided not to run.

Which at the moment, might mean that District 20 House candidates Terry Sabers and Jeff Bathke could get in without a challenger, unless there’s one coming in the mail.
Also not having filed yet are a couple of interesting incumbents.
Gun totin’ District 18 State Representative Julie Auch does not have her petitions in yet. Does that mean we’ll have greater gun safety at the political forums this election?
And District 14 State Rep Tony Kayser, who was a maybe or a maybe not for Senate, right now is a maybe, period. Because he has yet to file petitions. Is that setting up a return for District 14’s Legislative Team of Taylor & Tyler? They’ll have to get past a Democrat in the fall, but it could be.
And I’m sure there will be more things to talk about as the races fall into place. But these are the ones to watch in the short term.
Stay tuned.

I don’t see Doeden on the SOS Candidate List yet. Is he trusting his multi-million dollar campaign to the postal service?
He and Jordan Mason walked them in the other day.
How about Marty Jackley? Justin McNeal?
Marty was certified this AM. Who knows on McNeal? He doesn’t have a great track record.
Did Marty get North Dakota signatures?
Sorry! Senator Marty.
It is now past noon on Good Friday, and while I have seen a handful of down-ballot candidates were certified this morning, Toby Doeden is still not on the list.
Any word on that?
Doeden’s petitions need to be checked over if he makes the ballot! We The People of South Dakota have to make sure there are no violations or fraud by the Toby Doeden for Governor campaign!
Is Team Hansen in the SOS office right now, challenging all of Doeden’s signatures?
I’m told he flew in with Jordan Mason in tow, as he had to hire him to circulate for him, and they turned in.
Julie is not District 19
You’re right. They all blend together at this point…
SDDP Candidate Robert Arnold for Governor?
Heard that they were turned in, SoS is seriously backed up with so many statewide candidates, it will likely take a while to know for sure who will be making the ballot, though early voting for the primaries start april 17th or so.
Kayleb?
Kaleb Weiss District 2 or Kaley Nolz District 20?
I don’t see either of them listed
No show Soye withdrew
Good news she is gone.
Just a question about logistics: the SoS hasn’t got all the candidates certified yet but early voting starts in two weeks? What is the window to get the ballots printed and distributed to all the precincts?
Kaley Nolz was put there by her sister & Ben Kromer in a very behind closed doors way for 1 reason & 1 reason only. They shut on Farmers & got their way so now she’s out. Big sister must be too busy lying her way thru the country at her speaking gigs that she can’t tell little sister how to vote & what to say. Now Nolz can travel with her sisters carrying their rosaries…taking their pictures at “the church they attended” & lying about all big sister does! Watch out for those who sit in the front row at church…they aren’t what they seem.
