This was sent to me today, and is interesting to contemplate as Nebraska communities begin to receive income from their CO2 pipeline. It comes at a time when South Dakota claps itself on the back for killing a pipeline that would have reaped massive rewards for the state. And the billion dollar project that would have put us in the lead for aviation bio-fuels instead is looking to our neighbor to the North, because we’re not exactly a great place to do business :
On Tuesday, officials with Tallgrass Energy said they would soon be shipping CO2 from the first of 11 ethanol plants connected to its pipeline — a converted, former natural gas pipeline — for a 392-mile trip across Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Wyoming.
and..
Such pipelines in other states have generated opposition, as well as lawsuits and protests. In this case, though, extensive new rights of way weren’t necessary, and many landowners along the pipeline route grow corn, a crop expected to benefit from expanding the markets for corn-based ethanol by making the fuel more environmentally friendly.
and..
“It’s going to put Nebraska ethanol into a league of its own,” said Steven Davidson, a Tallgrass spokesman.
Jeff Yost, president and CEO of Nebraska Community Foundation, said the new community fund will target some of the biggest challenges facing rural communities — quality early childhood education, senior care and food insecurity — providing small grants to sustain jobs and services.

The issue is not the pipeline The issue is eminent domain (taking of private land for the enrichment of a corporation )
Then you were not paying attention, because yes, eminent domain was one tactic, but it ABSOLUTELY was pipeline related, as well as being with regards to what it was transporting.
Well gee, you should have supported SB201. Now when HB1052 is found unconstitutional, you have zero protection. Smooth move.
Funny how the only response opponents have is to cry “EMINENT DOMAIN”. Well, whoopty-doo, our legislature passed an unconstitutional bill to restrict one industry over another. So what is gained? SD will lose the lawsuit against ND, just like the Iowa counties who sued and had their ordinances voided by the 8th Circuit Appeals Court. Then what? All of our counties and state will have to rescind the ordinances and statute while our farmers will be forced to ship their corn to Iowa and Nebraska ethanol plants to make more money. Say hello to sub-$3 corn and hello to Democrats getting elected to office because our counties and legislature created a farm crisis in South Dakota. Yay!
Government farmers won’t care. Tax payer funded subsidies will keep them whole.
How are all those opposing farmers liking their $3.50 corn?
Dumb.
Don’t confuse the landowners with farmers trying to make ends meet
Lems/Hansen will be remembered like Benedict Arnold. Two people who sold their souls to the devil.
Along with Liz May, John Mills, Julie Auch, BranDEI Schaefbauer, Scott Odenbach, Carl Perry, Marty Overweg, Ben Krohmer, Phil Jensen, and other anti-SD minions.
Don’t forget the Democrats
I like 3.50 corn and 2.40 fat cattle
Amen, as good as distillers are, I’ll take cheap corn all day.
Indeed, now if counties would encourage feeding animals instead of zoning them out of existence, we would be getting somewhere
Indeed it’s great for feeding animals. Unfortunately, many counties in our state pass ordinance’s that restrict families from expanding and feeding more animals. Ordinance that take away property rights.
“The company projects that more than $7 million will be distributed over 10 years through the “Trailblazer Community Investment Fund,” with the money targeted for local early childhood centers, elder care facilities and food pantries. That is on top of lease payments to landowners and spending more than $450,000 on disaster response training sessions and equipment purchases for the mostly rural, volunteer fire and rescue departments along the pipeline route.”
Gosh, who wants more revenue streams for nursing homes, daycare and EMS….. NOT SD evidently!
You actually expect the party who thinks Tylenol causes autism is going to consider co2 science that is far more proven? We are going to be 20 years behind the modern world after this admin. Co2, renewable, ev…you name it. We will be buying foreign.
One thing we will definitely lose is the aviation fuel market. Brazil will be the leader in exporting aviation fuel, just like they are in soybeans and corn. Thank you pipeline fighters for destroying our ag economy.
This is just the beginning of witnessing the loss of revenue from not allowing the pipeline project in South Dakota!
What is it going to take South Dakota?
Your good old GOP is looking like a horse rode hard in the wrong direction.
And who’s to blame?
Look in the mirror you Trump loving goof balls.
It you, it’s you, it’s you.
Your lunch today is Crow and Humble Pie.
Clean your plate.
The left and far right teamed up on HB 1052. Every Democrat voted YES to kill the pipeline and biofuels industry.
Frank Kloucek, Farmers Union, and Dakota Rural Action advised them to do so.
Mr. Kloucek, the least effective fellow in the legislatures ever, had to make a mark somewhere.
If there is one rule, it is this: never listen to Frank
Our visionary reps from NE and N Central SD would like to turn back the clock to simpler times.
Dylan Jordan.
Need I say more.
Craig Schaunaman got every Dem to vote for HB 1052
Trump created the soybean and corn market crash during during his first administration and it never recovered. Now he has created another barrier with China concerning tariffs on ag products. Another crash that can be attributed to Trump. During his first administration he sold 100’s of million bushels or beans to Argentina and Brazil for a much reduced price over what China had previously paid us. What happened? Brazil and Argentina sold those beans to China and made booco dollars. Now he is doing the same thing all over again with an even greater reduction on price. Who is the loser? American farmers. Who is the winner? Brazil and Argentina again. I can’t afford Trumponomics and neither can the ag community. Isn’t surprising how the Ag Community supports Trump. I guess the farmer gets what he harvests, he voted for Trump so he can live with the reduction in prices of commodities, while at the same time allowing Brazil and Argentina reap the harvest and big bucks from the United States. Go Trump, Go.
