BTW, thanks for the traffic.

Between this weeks’ political announcements as as well as the ongoing coverage on IM22, traffic is way up, even past that of election week.

Clearly, like me, you’re all excited by elections. As well as confused and concerned as to how IM22 is going to affect you.

That’s contributed to traffic anywhere from 6500-8500 viewers daily. Not hits, but sustained views. That’s over twice how it has typically been running.

Thanks for reading. (And don’t forget we have advertising slots available.)

    1. Wax,

You are really missing the point.

Even if the Legislature deals with the problems of IM22, your buddy Rick Weiland will be able to get enough signatures to stop the fix from going into effect. When every civic organization finds out Legislators won’t attend any meetings lest they inadvertently violate the law and they see what gets cut from the budget to fund the money to finance campaigns, the cry against Democrats will be deafening.

I’m actually looking forward to it.

      1. Troy, I disagree on one point. It’s going to be toast, and there will be literally nothing dipstick Weiland will be able to do about it.

  1. I don’t consider it bed wetting as much as how a poorly written, unconstitutional measure deceptively advertised is going to negatively impact real people. It’s already guaranteed to be the subject of lawsuits and legislation.

  2. Pat,

But it needs to die a proper death. I really hope that the process is such that each nutty provision dies its own death putting it out of its misery quickly and mercifully.

I want the final death to be, after the General Appropriations bill is set (revenues projections and normal expenses determined), the taxpayer funded campaign expenditure is then dealt with along with the other Special Appropriations. If I recall there are usually about $10-15 million of Special Appropriations. I’d then force the Democrats to vote against everyone of the Special Appropriations to insure there is money for Taxpayer Funded Campaigns. Of course, the money will be gone on things the public wants long before they get to it. But the point will be made.

  3. Wax Zippo is right — the Establishment Bed-Wetting on IM 22 is hysterical. Guess the crew that gave us Gear Up and EB-5 needed a bigger pot of money from those bastions of Democracy affectionately referred to as the Koch Brothers.

  4. Thanks Pat for the reporting and diligent coverage of South Dakota politics. Without SDWC we would have to rely on the misinformation in the Argus Liar or worse… Heidelberger!

  5. All this concern over how the legislature is going to circumvent the will of the people is troubling. It’s a wonder why they keep voting the way they do. Our state has such an identity crisis.
