Thune Statement on the Passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement regarding the passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia who was scheduled to speak in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, next month:

“Today we learned the sad news of Justice Scalia’s passing. With his sudden death, our nation lost a stalwart for conservatives and a brilliant constitutional scholar. He was a legal giant who devoted his career to serving our country and his life to serving the Lord. It’s hard to imagine the Supreme Court without his sound legal judgment and remarkable wit. Kimberley and I offer our deepest condolences to his family. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.”

  1. John, you know what to do. Don’t buy into the rhetoric that a justice needs to be appointed this year. O’Connor can come back and help out SCOTUS until a Republican Christian President can make his appointment. Obama is gonna put forward that loose cannon woman in the 8th circuit that you voted to put on the appellate bench, but you have to say “no!”. Obama is gonna say you hate women, that you are obstructing justice, that you are not fit to govern, but you know better. There is a reason you are not contested. There is a reason that the Senate is yours until you no longer want it. So, John, give them hell! Coal, power, manufacturing, tribes, and God loving Americans are counting on you! God Bless!

      1. Both you need to put on your tin foil hats and start praying. springer, you’ll need to find your way out the wet paper bag to fetch your hat.
